Sunderland have seemingly been very busy on this summer’s transfer deadline day.
Sunderland have been in transfer headlines throughout deadline day.
Kristjaan Speakman appears to be hard at work as the 11pm deadline approaches, with several Sunderland stories of note.
It comes after a fairly mixed summer transfer window at the Stadium of Light with just the five new players having arrived so far.
Despite that, Regis Le Bris has guided the Black Cats to a strong start to the 2024/25 Championship campaign.
Who’s leaving Sunderland on deadline day
Timothee Pembele is set to join Le Havre on loan from Sunderland before the summer transfer window shuts, and is due for a medical with the Ligue 1 club.
Elsewhere, Pierre Ekwah could join Pembele in League One, with the Sunderland man undergoing a medical with St Etienne ahead of a proposed loan move, though Etienne also have a £5.9million option to buy.
And in a very surprising turn of events, Sunderland’s out of favour striker Luis Hemir could seal a shock loan move to Juventus, who were keen on signing the Portuguese forward before Sunderland did last summer.
Patrick Roberts will be staying at Sunderland despite interest from the likes of Luton Town.

Who’s been linked with Sunderland on deadline day
A horde of names have been mentioned alongside Sunderland on deadline day, with the bulk of them being strikers.
Going into deadline day, it was revealed that Sunderland lodged a £5million bid for Tom Cannon at Leicester City.
There’s been some back and forth over Cannon on deadline day, but he’s now undergoing a medical with Stoke City ahead of a loan move to the bet365 Stadium.
Other strikers linked including Lyon’s Gift Orban and Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana, though neither move seems to have progressed much beyond the initial link.
Since, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sunderland have bid for Gent striker Ahmed Abdullahi, as Speakman eyes a final striker signing.
PSG man Ayman Kari has also been linked; he played on loan for Le Bris’ Lorient last season, whilst Leicester City centre-back Ben Nelson has also been linked.

Who’s joining Sunderland on deadline day
It looks like Sunderland have deals for two players in place, with the first being Chris Mepham.
Bournemouth centre-back Mepham is set to undergo a medical with Sunderland and is currently on his way up north to undergo his tests.
His arrival comes after the injury to Aji Alese which is thought to be worst than first though.
Lastly, it’s reported that Sunderland have agreed a deal for Salis Abdul Samed at RC Lens, with the midfielder reportedly set to sign a deal with the Black Cats worth £13k-a-week.
