Sunderland plotting deadline day loan move for £11m Chelsea man

Sunderland seem determined to land another striker on deadline day.

Sunderland have been linked with a handful of strikers going into deadline day, despite the recent loan signing of Wilson Isidor.

Alexandre Mendy is staying with Caen after a summer of links to the Stadium of Light, but Sunderland have bid £5million for Tom Cannon.

But Leicester City striker Cannon would prefer a loan exit on deadline day, rather than a permanent move away from the King Power Stadium.

Elsewhere, Sunderland are linked with Gift Orban at Lyon in what would be a very impressive loan capture for the Black Cats.

Now, Kristjaan Speakman is reportedly eyeing a possible Orban alternative.

Sunderland interested in Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana

An emerging report from Sunderland Nation says that Sunderland are now considering a loan swoop for David Datro Fofana at Chelsea.

The 21-year-old joined Chelsea from Norwegian side Molde during the 2022/23 campaign in an £11million deal.

Hes’s since made just three Premier League appearances for the Blues, spending time out on loan with Union Berlin and Burnley last season.

With Burnley, Fofana scored four in 15 Premier League appearances.

Sunderland Nation say that Sunderland are considering a loan move for either Orban or Fofana, but not both.

David Datro Fofana could be realistic Sunderland deadline day signing

Sunderland certainly seem to have a lot of irons in the fire on deadline day, with a striker signing clearly the main aim.

And given the latest on Cannon, a loan signing looks more likely than anything else, and Fofana could be a safe bet.

Cannon has a lot of interest and Orban too, whereas Fofana is a new name with seemingly less interest than the other Sunderland targets.

He showed some class with Burnley in the Championship last season and so dropping down to the Championship could see him prevail.

For Sunderland, it could be a very exciting signing.
