Sunderland are two days away from the transfer window slamming shut.
The Black Cats have made five signings so far this summer and have already brought in forward Wilson Isidor, but are still eager to sign two new strikers.
Sunderland do appear to have options this week, with a deal for Alexandre Mendy yet to be off the cards after Caen signed a potential replacement yesterday.
They have also expressed interest in RB Salzburg’s Roko Simic, though the talented No. 9 is believed to have plenty of options.
Perhaps their most likely pursuit is Tom Cannon, who Sunderland bid £5 million for earlier this week.

Sunderland target looks increasingly likely to leave
The youngster has struggled for minutes since joining Leicester City last summer and The Sun have since reported that they are prepared to offload him for £7m.
Leicester are yet to respond to the bid and are unlikely to demand an increase, but that didn’t stop them from leaving him out of their match-day squad yesterday.
The Midlands outfit hosted Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup second round last night, in what would have surely been the perfect opportunity for Cannon to make his first appearance of the season.
However, the 21-year-old was left out, with new signing Jordan Ayew starting up front.
BBC have reported that Patson Daka is expected to be ‘out for months’ now though, so Steve Cooper only has Ayew, Cannon and Jamie Vardy to choose from.
Despite that, it does look increasingly likely that the former Everton man will leave before Friday’s deadline.
Tom Cannon could be a very smart signing for Sunderland
Given Sunderland raked in £15m for Jack Clarke last week, they should have no problem in forking out the £7m required to pay for Cannon.
While he certainly doesn’t have as much experience as the winger, Cannon has bags of potential and proved that during his loan spell at Preston.
The forward was in high demand last summer and there is a reason why Leicester signed him, while his spell at the King Power Stadium could have looked a lot different if he hadn’t picked up an injury.
Cannon will undoubtedly score goals for the Black Cats, and their £5m bid surely suggests he is now at the top of their shortlist.
He still has plenty of interest, but the likes of Sheffield United and Norwich City are yet to make bids for his signature.
The youngster would surely favour a move to the Stadium of Light due to the guarantee that he will be Sunderland’s number one striker, while their early form in the season would surely give them a big advantage too.
