A first Sunderland player exit of deadline day seems to be approaching.

Sunderland certainly look busy on the transfer front on deadline day.

Kristjaan Speakman will be hard at work as he looks to make the final touches on this summer’s transfer window.

Five new players have arrived including one new striker, Wilson Isidor, who’s joined on loan for the 2024/25 season from Zenit.

Another striker signing looks like the main focus for Regis Le Bris’ side, but there could also be a lot of attention towards player exits at the Stadium of Light.

Timothee Pembele set for Sunderland loan exit

Earlier this summer, Le Bris confirmed that Sunderland were looking to send Timothee Pembele out on loan.

The Frenchman, who joined from PSG last summer, has so far failed to kick on, having not featured in a single matchday squad this season.

Now, it’s claimed that Pembele is poised to join Ligue 1 club Le Havre on loan.

French journalist Josue Casse has revealed on X that Pembele is set to undergo a medical with Le Havre ‘in the next few hours’.

A good move for Timothee Pembele and Sunderland

Pembele endured a tough maiden season with Sunderland.

He featured just eight times in the Championship with injury hampering his campaign, but he showed glimpses of a player with potential.

With Trai Hume having the right-back position locked down though, Pembele would be a bench-warmer at Sunderland this season.

So a loan exit for the 21-year-old seems like a smart move for all involved.

And playing Ligue 1 football, Pembele will no doubt be acclimatising himself with a brand of football that Le Bris wants to adopt, with Le Bris having come from Ligue 1 last time round.
