Reports suggest Jayden Danns did indeed complete his loan move to Sunderland on transfer deadline day, so why hasn’t it been officially announced yet?
Sunderland managed to navigate the transfer window fairly well over the last month, bringing in new players and getting rid of fringe players in Regis Le Bris’ squad.
For the past week or more, Jayden Danns appeared destined to become a Sunderland player. Despite intense competition from various Championship clubs, it is thought the Black Cats won the race for the Liverpool ace.
But, as we look at the incomings and outgoings for Sunderland now that the deadline has passed, it feels a little odd that Danns has not been officially unveiled by the club.

Jayden Danns should be revealed today after busy deadline day
Sunderland were tipped to sign Danns on deadline day, and it was thought the youngster may even attend the Middlesbrough game on Monday night.
He was nowhere to be seen, though. So, what’s going on? Is Jayden Danns a Sunderland player or not? And when will he finally be announced if so?
Well, according to Keith Downie of Sky Sports on Twitter/X, we can expect Danns to be unveiled to the world as a Sunderland player today (Tuesday 4th February).
Downie wrote: “Jayden Danns has completed his loan to Sunderland — but his signing from Liverpool will be announced tomorrow [Tuesday]. The Sunderland media team have been rather busy at Middlesbrough tonight.
“Striker Danns has agreed to join on-loan until the summer and the paperwork is complete. The teenager passed his medical earlier today.”
It would seem, then, that this is simply a case of a clash of interests for Sunderland, with the crunch game over local rivals Middlesbrough being the top priority, which is understandable. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled throughout the day for Danns showing up in the red and white of Sunderland.

How good was Sunderland’s transfer window?
In the end, Sunderland brought in Enzo Le Fee on loan from AS Roma with a purchase option if they get promoted this season. The Black Cats also made Wilson Isidor’s loan move permanent for £5m.
Throw in Danns to that and you have to say the Black Cats have had a really productive and successful window. And that’s without even mentioning the seven players that left the club, with plenty of fringe players moving on.
Le Fee showed his class against Middlesbrough on Monday night, and really looks like he can become one of the best players in the Championship by quite some distance.
| Player | In/Out | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Enzo Le Fee | In | Loan |
| Wilson Isidor | In | £5m |
| Jayden Danns | In | Loan |
| Aaron Connolly | Out | Free |
| Abdoullah Ba | Out | Loan |
| Adil Aouchiche | Out | Loan |
| Ben Crompton | Out | Loan |
| Nathan Bishop | Out | Loan |
| Nazariy Rusyn | Out | Loan |
| Zak Johnson | Out | Loan |
Isidor, meanwhile, has endeared himself to the Sunderland fans and continues to produce the goods in front of goal, too; a fantastic combination of talent and passion.
If Danns can now chip in with some goals and help cover for Isidor as the season goes on, Sunderland could well end up achieving their promotion dreams, and this transfer window will be looked back at as the key to that success.
