Sunderland look set to cap their summer transfer window with another signing.
Despite Sunderland signing Wilson Isidor on loan from Zenit last week, Kristjaan Speakman looks determined to add another striker to the ranks at the Stadium of Light.
It’ll come as a relief for manager Regis Le Bris who’s lacked an out and out no.9 all summer.
But Le Bris is still getting a real tune out of his first-team squad right now with Sunderland having a 100% record in the 2024/25 Championship season so far, and having yet to concede a goal either.
Here we look at all the latest Sunderland transfer news and rumours…
Scott Parker explains Manuel Benson absence amid Sunderland links
Sunderland have been linked with Manuel Benson at Burnley this month.
Benson though wasn’t present as Sunderland beat Burnley 1-0 last weekend, being completely left out of the matchday squad.
Parker explained Benson’s absence, along with a number of other Burnley names, saying:
“That’s just where they are in terms of their state and how they see it this year.
“I decided it was probably best that they weren’t involved.”

Sunderland remain keen on Enzo Bardeli
Earlier this summer, Sunderland were linked with Enzo Bardeli who currently plays for French Ligue 2 side Dunkerque.
And recent reports have revealed that Sunderland remain interested in Bardeli ahead of deadline day.
However, FC Metz are believed to be in talks with the attacking midfielder, who also has interest from a handful of Dutch sides.
Sunderland hold talks with Red Bull Salzburg’s Roko Simic
One striker said to be on the Black Cts’ radar is Red Bull Salzburg youngster Roko Simic.
It was recently claimed that Simic was in Sunderland to undergo a medical on Wearside, though that update seems to have been premature.
Michael Graham shared the latest on the Croatian striker, saying that Sunderland have held talks with Simic, who has many options right now, with at least one Bundesliga side interested.

Sunderland lodge bid for Tom Cannon at Leicester City
Lastly, Sunderland have made a £5million bid for Tom Cannon at Leicester City.
Sunderland wanted to sign the Irishman on loan from Everton last summer before Leicester signed him in an £8million deal.
But the Black Cats aren’t alone in their current interest in the 21-year-old striker, with Norwich City, Sheffield United, and Stoke City all expected to make their move for Cannon before deadline day.
Adil Aouchiche could leave Sunderland before August 30th
In a potentially surprising turn of events, midfielder Adil Aouchiche could leave Sunderland before the transfer deadline.
Reports coming out of France claim that the 22-year-old, who’s made just one Championship appearance so far this season, has grown discontent with the current regime.
It’s suggested that Aouchiche may now try and force a permanent exit from the club in the final days of the transfer window.
