Sunderland are chasing a deal for Leicester City striker Tom Cannon.
Last summer, Sunderland wanted to sign Tom Cannon on loan from Everton, following his impressive loan stint with Preston North End in the Championship.
In the second half of the 2022/23 Championship campaign, Cannon scored eight in 20 league outings for Preston.
It lead to widespread interest in the striker with Sunderland one of the many teams chasing a loan deal for the Irishman.
But Leicester City signed Cannon on a permanent basis, blowing the competition away with an £8million bid.
Cannon, 21, would go on to score twice in 13 Championship appearances for Leicester City owing to a back injury that kept him sidelined for much of the first half of the season.
Now, Sunderland have made a £5million bid to sign Cannon. But he may not be the only Leicester City man heading to the Stadium of Light this summer.

Sunderland target Ben Nelson poised for Leicester City loan exit
Earlier in August, Sunderland were credited with an interest in Ben Nelson at Leicester City.
It was claimed that the Black Cats had made an enquiry to sign the centre-back on loan, shortly after the injury to Dan Ballard.
The 20-year-old Englishman featured five times in the Championship last season, marking his first appearances for the Foxes’ first-team after graduating through the academy.
Now, journalist Darren Witcoop has tipped Nelson to head out on loan before the August 30th transfer deadline.
Are Sunderland still in the race for Ben Nelson at Leicester City
Following the injury to Ballard, the centre-back position seemed very light for Regis Le Bris.
Aji Alese stepped in and he’s since been impressive; Alese earned praise for his performance vs Burnley last time out.
With Ballard on the mend and Alese impressing, and with Sunderland generally proving to be defensively sound, a new centre-back signing may not be a priority for Sunderland right now.
It looks like another striker signing is on Kristjaan Speakman‘s to-do list before August 30th, and it’d be a good end to what’s been an overall mixed summer transfer window for the Black Cats.
But extra depth can prove vital for teams in the Championship and an extra centre-back could prove to be very useful for Le Bris.
If Nelson is to head out on loan, he’ll want game-time, and that may be Leicester’s only concern with regards to possibly sending Nelson to Sunderland.
