The Sunderland midfielder is no longer part of Regis le Bris’ plans ahead of August 30th.
Sunderland will be carefully planning their strategy at this moment for the final days of the summer transfer window, with a striker incoming very much taking the priority for Regis Le Bris’ side.
Despite the brilliant form of Eliezer Mayenda to kick-off the 2024/25 Championship campaign, Sunderland are still adamant on bringing in extra firepower, with Leicester City’s Tom Cannon of high-interest after a £5million bid was launched for the Premier League forward.
Whilst strikers are of utmost importance to Le Bris’ side, there must also be some movement within the squad before the deadline on August 30th, with one player seemingly sticking out as a clear contender to no longer be on Wearside following the next two days after it was revealed that he is unhappy at the club.

Adil Aouchiche likely to leave Sunderland after growing unhappy
Sunderland midfielder Adil Aouchiche has expressed his concerns at his current situation at the club, with his reportedly looking to act quickly to find him a new club before the deadline, per DZ Foot.
The Frenchman, who was nominated for the 2020 Golden Boy Award, was given very minimal game time during the 2023/24 Championship season, and it is expected for this campaign to follow suit under Le Bris after he was left out of the squad for the Black Cats’ 1-0 win against Burnley.
Aouchiche managed two goals in his first season with the Black Cats last season in 29 appearances, of which were predominantly from off the bench, and he was labelled as ‘quality’ by Sunderland U21 coach John Hewitson, per Sunderland Echo.

Adil Aouchiche’s future was decided as soon as Regis Le Bris was appointed
Whilst Aouchiche was far from being first choice in the centre-of-the-park in his first season at the Stadium of Light, his chances of emerging as a leading contender to start in midfield were always going to be slim following Le Bris’ appointment.
Le Bris and Aouchiche were both at FC Lorient at the same time, and the pair did not get on incredibly well, with the French boss handing the youngster just 11 appearances in the 2022/23 campaign, and it is pretty evident that Le Bris has stuck to his feelings about him.
The brilliant depth in midfield far from helps Aouchiche’s case of getting game time, with Jobe Bellingham, Chris Rigg, Dan Neil and Alan Browne all coming before him in the pecking order, but he could hardly work from a blank canvas due to his past with Le Bris, and the writing has been on the wall for some time that he was set to move on.
