One of Sunderland’s January signings has yet to feature since his loan move from Liverpool due to injury with supporters bemoaning his transfer.
Sunderland made three signings during the 2025 January transfer window amidst their Championship play-off push.
Regis Le Bris welcomed Enzo Le Fee to Wearside, meanwhile countryman Wilson Isidor made his initial loan move from Zenit St Petersburg permanent.
Le Fee’s prowess excited Sunderland supporters and they will be eagerly anticipating his imminent return following a spell on the sidelines.
Final January recruit, Jayden Danns, has been sidelined since his Sunderland arrival and the latest revelations with his recovery have left some supporters bemused as to why the forward was even recruited by sporting director Kristjaan Speakman.

Sunderland loanee Jayden Danns in Liverpool training
Promising young Liverpool forward Danns rounded off Sunderland’s business on deadline day, having been brought in on-loan until the end of the 2024/25 campaign, but has yet to feature having been signed in spite of his injury.
Amidst the 19-year-old’s arrival at Sunderland, it was revealed during his medical that Danns was suffering with a back injury, and has since been sent back to his parent club for treatment before making his Black Cats debut.
Danns admitted after his loan move was confirmed that he wanted to ‘prove himself’ during his loan stint at Sunderland but he may fail to get the opportunity.
After the forward Jurgen Klopp hailed as ‘special’ was pictured in Liverpool training earlier this week, it has left Black Cats fans wondering whether Danns will even feature for Le Bris’ side by the end of the current Championship campaign.
After photos of Danns circulated on social media, one Sunderland fan wrote on X that: “Forgot he even existed,”. Another added: “Great signing that was”.
A fan joked that Danns was the “worst loan signing since Dom Matteo”, who featured once on-loan from Liverpool, during Sunderland’s 1994/95 season as they narrowly dodged relegation.
One Black Cats fan surmised the fanbase’s feelings over the Danns deal perfectly. They wrote: “What a waste of time.”

Will loan signing Jayden Danns be back for the play-offs
One fan argued in the light of the Danns’ training photos, that: “He’s returning to Liverpool for his recovery. Hopefully we see him before the season finishes.”
With Danns not yet to feature in full Liverpool training amid his injury rehabilitation, never mind at the Academy of Light, Le Bris last week implied that they could soon admit defeat with Danns.
He said, via the Northern Echo: “We are not at this point right now but the season is running so it will be difficult. We don’t know exactly.”
With the Championship action approaching a poignant conclusion, and Danns yet to even train with Le Bris’ Black Cats, the likelihood he features during Sunderland’s final seven games and then the probable ensuing play-offs is dwindling daily.
