Sunderland have welcomed a new face through the door on transfer deadline day, with Jayden Danns arriving on loan from Liverpool.
After the signing of Enzo Le Fee on loan from AS Roma, it became clear that Sunderland’s next priority in the transfer window would be to find a new striker.
The permanent signing of Wilson Isidor freed up a loan spot in the Sunderland squad, which made the Black Cats’ pursuit of Jayden Danns all the more simple.
And, despite competition from other Championship sides, the Liverpool youngster has now become the latest confirmed Sunderland signing of the January transfer window.

Jayden Danns is officially a Sunderland player
We suspected Danns would be one to watch on deadline day for Sunderland, and while we had to wait a while for confirmation, the 19-year-old has now made the switch to Wearside on loan until the end of the season.
Speaking to the club’s website, Danns discussed his pride at joining the Black Cats and revealed what his mission is now he has arrived on Wearside.
Danns said: “This is my first loan move and a chance to prove myself, so I’m very appreciative of the opportunity and I’m grateful to the Club for placing their faith in me. I’ve done my research and the team is incredible, so this feels like the right step.”
Sadly, Danns arrives at the club with a back injury, so we may have to wait some time before we see him in action, though hopefully not too long.
He added: “I’m disappointed that I will be unable to do that straight away, but I’m proud to have joined the Club and I will work hard throughout this period to ensure I can return to action and play my part.”

What can Jayden Danns bring to Sunderland?
Obviously, Wilson Isidor is the main man at Sunderland when it comes to strikers. Eliezer Mayenda looks to be the perfect partner for the Frenchman, too, but Danns will be a worthy competitor in that area now.
Danns is a big, strong, very athletic striker, who has a keen eye for goal. He’s already shown glimpses of what he can do for Liverpool, and it will be fascinating to see how that translates at Championship level.
Danns is arguably more similar to Isidor, so one would assume he is here to provide cover for the 24-year-old. That makes sense; Isidor has played a lot of football this season, and if Sunderland want the best out of him, he will need some respite.
Interestingly, Sunderland want another striker after the signing of Danns, which suggests Regis Le Bris is keen to go all-out in attack as he looks to get the Black Cats promoted this season.
If that does happen, Danns may well have to be patient when it comes to getting minutes in the team here at Sunderland. But, one thing’s for sure, he has all the potential to make a huge impact when he is given the chance.
