Pape Cherif Ndiaye would be a risk but could have offered extremely high reward

When looking at the list of players that Sunderland have been linked with throughout the January period, none have quite had such an extraordinary goal record as Cherif Ndiaye, who is well course to average more goals than games this season.

His lack of Championship experience may have raised questions and concerns over whether he would have that quality to help his goalscoring translate into English football, but nonetheless, it would have been worth that risk.

His experience in the Champions League also highlighted his ability, with him bagging goals against Monaco and PSV Eindhoven, raising questions over what could have been if Sunderland did sign him.
