Finally, Sunderland have unveiled the signing of Jayden Danns, and according to one Liverpool expert, the Black Cats can be very excited about their new player.

A busy transfer deadline day for Sunderland ended up actually producing very few incomings and outgoings, but it was a productive window nonetheless.

Thankfully, Jayden Danns did arrive at the club, and though we had to wait for his signing to be confirmed, he is officially a Sunderland player now.

We know how Danns feels about the move, but what should supporters expect when it comes to the teenager’s potential impact on Wearside?

Sunderland are getting an exciting, instinctive striker

After hearing Jurgen Klopp describe Danns as ‘really special’, we decided to touch base with Liverpool expert James Brooke to see what the youngster is all about.

Brooke said: “Jayden Danns has been causing real excitement among the Liverpool fanbase for the best part of 18 months. After scoring a truckload in the academy last season he made the breakthrough under Jurgen Klopp and instantly looked like a player who could one day be a first-teamer at Anfield.”

In terms of Danns’ playing style, Brooke added: “Danns is a natural centre forward who, despite his young age, has a clear instinct for where the goal is. His ability to sniff out a chance and bury it has even led to some supporters calling for him to start over Darwin Nunez this season.

“A clever and mobile striker who’s compared himself to Roberto Firmino for the way he likes to drop and link play from deep, Danns has also earned admirers for his strong personality and self confidence.
Expect to see him give it everything, become a fan favourite and – crucially – score plenty of those classic poacher’s goals.”

Sunderland fans will have to wait patiently for Jayden Danns debut

This all sounds tantalising, and we’re sure Danns will prove to be a worthy addition to the Sunderland squad who can complement the likes of Wilson Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda in attack.

However, Sunderland fans are going to have to wait a little while before they see the new boy in action, as he’s arrived at the club with a back injury.

It is unclear just how long Danns will be out of action, but the fact that the transfer still went ahead despite the injury showing up in the medical checks.

Regardless, when he does get the all-clear to play, we should see a young player who is hungry to show what he can do, and who will offer something a little different to the current options available to Regis Le Bris. Now, we just have to hope Danns is enough to get Sunderland over the line in the promotion race.
