Sunderland fans are waiting to hear the news about Chris Rigg, after the teenager limped off the pitch against Blackburn Rovers.
Sunderland drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day in what was another eventful game for Regis Le Bris’ side.
They came from a goa behind to lead the game 2-1. But Sunderland would concede late on now remain in 4th place of the Championship table.
Chris Rigg was on the scoresheet that game. He scored his fourth goal of the season but limped off the pitch later on in the game, seemingly with a foot injury.
After the game, Le Bris was quizzed on Rigg’s injury. But the Frenchman simply stated that he doesn’t yet have the diagnosis of a timeline for Rigg’s injury.
Rigg has broken through this season having become a key player for Sunderland. Real Madrid have been linked with Rigg, highlighting his quality and impact in the Championship this season.

Phil Smith shares worrying Chris Rigg injury detail at Sunderland
Speaking on On The Whistle, journalist Phil Smith has discussed Rigg’s injury, revealing that the 17-year-old left Ewood Park in a protective boot.
Smith adds that the full extent of Rigg’s injury is not yet known, but he predicted that the England youngster will miss the next stretch of games for Sunderland.
Smith said: “From our understanding, Rigg did leave the game in a protective boot.
“When you’ve got as many games coming up in a short space of time as Sunderland are, I think it’s fair to say that it makes him a major doubt for the games that are coming up.”
Rigg has four goals and one assist in 22 Championship outings for the Black Cats so far this season.

Sunderland’s next five fixtures in the Championship
Christmas is always a hectic time for teams in the Championship and for Sunderland, that’s no different.
The Black Cats play away at Stoke City on Sunday and then host 2nd place Sheffield United on New Year’s Day, in a game where Rigg’s quality would definitely be needed.
Then Sunderland host Portsmouth on January 6th before having a week off Championship duties for the FA Cup, with Sunderland at home to Stoke City in the third round.
After that, Sunderland are away at 3rd place Burnley and then away at Derby County in a midweek game.
It’s certainly a congested and very difficult run of fixtures coming up for Sunderland. Le Bris though won’t risk Rigg if he’s not 100%.
