A player who’s been mentioned alongside Sunderland in the build up to January could actually be set for a stunning Premier League switch instead.
Sunderland may find themselves in desperate need of one or two January signings, with Regis Le Bris’ side having shown a few weaknesses over the last several weeks.
On Boxing Day, Sunderland drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers in a game they came from behind in to lead, conceding late on.
Whilst it’s only been one defeat in 16 for the Black Cats, there’s been a lot of points dropped, and the Black Cats have fired four blanks in those 16y games as well.
Wilson Isidor has finally ended his goal drought after scoring against Blackburn. But Sunderland fans think another striker is needed in January if the club are to really push for promotion.
Sunderland have been linked with Yannick Agnero who’s scored four goals for Halmstad in the Allsvenskan this season, with Brighton’s Evan Ferguson another linked with a move to the Stadium of Light.

Arsenal point made as transfer guru discusses Evan Ferguson’s Brighton situation
It’s claimed that Sunderland are interested in Ferguson at Brighton, with the Irish international struggling for game time this season.
Once valued at £100million, the 20-year-old has scored just once in 12 Premier League appearances this season.
Arsenal were previously kinked with Ferguson when he was breaking through at Brighton. And discussing Arsenal’s January transfer plans, transfer guru Ben Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “I would keep an eye on Evan Ferguson – a player that, when he was playing regularly for Brighton sort of 18 months or so ago, was very much on Arsenal’s radar.
“But of course, at that point, everyone was speaking like he would have a £80million to £100million price tag.
“Now I think suitors are waiting to see whether Brighton are prepared to loan or sell Evan Ferguson. I think a loan is probably more likely than a permanent sale.”

Sunderland have potential bargaining chip in Evan Ferguson race
Jacob’s point about Ferguson being more likely to leave on loan than permanently is very interesting from a Sunderland perspective.
And likewise is the fact that Brighton are interested in Dan Ballard ahead of January, so for the Black Cats, there might be a definite inroad to signing Ferguson in January.
A loan move from Brighton to Arsenal doesn’t seem to make sense as he surely wouldn’t play all that much. But he’d get game time at Sunderland, who are known for being a very good club for younger players to progress.
Whilst Jacob says Ferguson to Arsenal is one to keep an eye on, Ferguson to Sunderland is also one to watch out for.
