One moment in Sunderland’s draw vs Coventry City left an EFL pundit speechless.
The Black Cats are currently enduring a fairly lacklustre run of games after not managing to notch a single win in their last three games of the 2024/25 Championship season.
The most recent, a 2-2 draw against Coventry City, was a bitter pill to swallow for Regis Le Bris’ side after they initially went ahead by two-goals, only for a shocking and gutless second half performance to undo their hard work in the opening stanza.
Sunderland do have positives to take away from the game that saw two-points dropped at the Stadium of Light, and that was the brilliant pair of goals that gave them the healthy lead at half-time.
Dennis Cirkin’s strike was without a doubt the pick of the bunch, however Wilson Isidor’s finish was one to be admired, and it certainly has been given its plaudits by one EFL pundit.

EFL pundit reflects on Wilson Isidor strike in Sunderland vs Coventry City
French forward Isidor has been impeccable on most occasions for Sunderland since he was thrown into the starting-11 in place of the injured Eliezer Mayenda, and the first-half against Coventry City showed no exceptions to that trend.
His goal saw him loop it over the visitors’ shot-stopper with ease and precision, and it was an incredible effort from the Frenchman.
Justin Peach, via Second Tier Podcast on YoutTube has reflected on the moment, to which he said: “The ball is so fast that [on Cirkin’s goal] you barely see it when the camera is rolling, you almost have to drop it frame by frame to really appreciate it but the Wilson Isidor goal was ridiculous as well. How does he execute that sort of flick volley that he did? I just can’t fathom it.
“I can’t work out the physics in my head, both goals were tremendous and it’s such a shame that they surrendered a two goal lead.”

Wilson Isidor form has been crucial for Sunderland to maintain position in Championship
It is clear that Sunderland haven’t quite been their usual selves when looking at the past three games for the Black Cats. However, they still maintain their position at the summit of the league table.
A lot of this can go down to Isidor’s prolific nature that he has shown in front of goal since his arrival at the club.
Per SofaScore, Isidor currently has a 21.74% goal conversion rate, something that is crucial when not being fed the ball as often as needed. The second half against Coventry City was a prime example of Sunderland not being able to fashion any significant chances, with them tallying just one shot from inside the box. Whilst he didn’t on that occasion, games like that are where Isidor provides a crucial role for Le Bris’ side.
