Sunderland star Romaine Mundle has delivered a six-word summary of the disappointing draw vs Coventry City.
The Black Cats drew 2-2 with Coventry City at the weekend, marking it three games now in a row without a win for Regis Le Bris’ side.
Sunderland put in an emphatic showing in the first half, however their hard work was undone by a managerless Coventry City side after the interval as Le Bris’ side looked very absent and toothless in the final third.
Whilst it is a game that Sunderland do need to swiftly move past, the positives of the first half are still worthy to take away from the game, especially the impeccable finishes by both Wilson Isidor and Dennis Cirkin, whose strikes gave the Black Cats a healthy two-goal lead at the break.
Both Sunderland goals were provided with assists by on-form winger Romaine Mundle, who, despite his solid showing, gave a fair verdict on the game.

Sunderland star Romaine Mundle on how the side must ‘learn’ from the draw vs Coventry City
Mundle, alongside the likes of Connolly and Patrick Roberts were unable to build on their brilliant first half performance as they offered very little in the second stanza in regards to goalscoring opportunities, with Sunderland fashioning just one shot inside the box in the second 45.
The Sunderland winger was aware that the result is two-points dropped for Le Bris’ side as he took to Instagram after the game, where he wrote: “An experience we will learn from.”
The result means that Sunderland have now notched three successive draws in a row in the Championship, and whilst they still maintain their spot at the summit of the table, they only lead on goal difference.

Players must ‘learn from’ complacency issue at Sunderland
It is clear that many may have thought that Sunderland had the game wrapped up by half-time with their healthy two-goal lead which resulted from a fairly controlled half of football, but this led to complacency settling into the ranks.
It is not the first time that it has occurred in the 2024/25 Championship season, as it did away at Plymouth Argyle.
In comparison to the 2023/24 disastrous campaign, Sunderland’s mentality has been much improved under Le Bris, but there still appears to be some underlying issues that still need to be fixed within the side, and rectifying that issue should stem from the team’s leaders of Dan Neil and Luke O’Nien.
