Sunderland kick off their Championship campaign in little under three week’s time. But the Black Cats have plenty of transfer business to conclude before then.
The summer transfer window doesn’t close until August 30th. But for Sunderland, there’s certainly a sense of urgency in the market after their prolonged managerial search.
So far, sporting director Kristjaan Speakman has brought in Simon Moore and Alan Browne at the Stadium of Light.
The Browne capture in particular seems like a much-needed acquisition for new head coach Regis Le Bris, but there’s still plenty of matters to address before deadline day.
Here we look at what could come next in the summer transfer market for Sunderland…

Sunderland look set to sign Blondy Nna Noukeu on a free transfer
The next possible Sunderland transfer could be another free agent, and another goalkeeper.
Blondy Nna Noukeu has been on trial with Sunderland recently and has reportedly been offered a contract by the club.
Le Bris has taken Noukeu to Spain with Sunderland on their pre-season tour.
Trai Hume interest could heat up at Sunderland
One Sunderland player in transfer headlines right now is defender Trai Hume, who is wanted by Galatasaray.
It’s been claimed that Galatasaray have seen a £7million bid for Hume knocked back and that the Black Cats actually want a fee closer to £10million.
Journalist Michael Graham has suggested that between £12-14million would be a good fee for Hume, who he expects to be the subject of further transfer bids this summer.

Sunderland look to step up Alexandre Mendy pursuit
There’s a new striker on Sunderland’s radar in Alexandre Mendy.
The 30-year-old won the Ligue 2 Golden Boot with Caen last season after scoring 22 goals in 37 league appearances.
It’s reported that Sunderland are in ongoing negotiations to sign Mendy this summer and have sent Caen an offer, but the Black Cats face competition from Saudi Arabia.
Race for Sunderland target Jesurun Rak-Sakyi set to heat up
Crystal Place youngster Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has been linked with Sunderland once again this summer.
And he has plenty of interest with Championship trio Hull City, QPR, and Sheffield United interested along with Sunderland.
Recent reports revealed that Southampton may lodge a bid to sign Rak-Sakyi on a permanent deal this summer.
Palace would prefer to send Rak-Sakyi on loan to a Championship club, but could be tempted into selling if a suitable offer comes along.

Matty Young posed to join Salford City on loan
Likely the next outgoing at the Stadium of Light is that of youth goalkeeper Matty Young.
Following his impressive loan spell with Darlington last season, he’s now been tipped to join League Two Salford City on loan, and the move could go through as soon as this week.
For Sunderland then, the next week or so could b a potentially busy one, with Mendy looking like a deal that could become quite advanced.
In terms of outgoings, we may see Galatasaray or another team come in for Hume, though it won’t be a cheap signing.
As for other potential outgoings, none seem too advanced right now, though the likes of Jack Clarke, Jobe Bellingham, Anthony Patterson, and Dan Ballard remain in demand players on Wearside.
