Sunderland have made a slow start to the summer transfer window, with their previous managerial appointment seemingly delaying matters.

Now though, with Regis Le Bris in place as the new Sunderland head coach, sporting director Kristjaan Speakman looks set to scour the transfer market.

So far this summer, Sunderland have signed goalkeeper Simon Moore and Alan Browne, with the pair adding some much-needed Championship experience to the first-team squad.

Next on Speakman’s list may be a new striker signing with Speakman himself saying recently that he’ll do his best to give Le Bris a prolific no.9 for the upcoming 2024/25 Championship campaign.

Here we round up the latest Sunderland transfer news and rumours…

Sunderland offer contract to free agent Blondy Nna Noukeu

Sunderland have reportedly offered a contract to Cameroonian goalkeeper Blondy Nna Noukeu following his release at Championship rivals Stoke City.

On Saturday, Noukeu featured in goal for Le Bris’ Sunderland in the 5-0 win over South Shields, though there’s not yet official confirmation of Noukeu’s arrival at the Stadium of Light.

Crystal Palace want to land Sunderland star Jack Clarke

Crystal Palace hold an interest in a couple of Sunderland players right now; Jobe Bellingham and Jack Clarke.

The Eagles are long-term suitors of Clarke but are yet to make a formal move for the ex-Spurs man.

However, it’s reported that Michael Olise’s recent move to Bayern Munich could speed up a potential Palace bid for Clarke this summer.

Sunderland miss out on Chris Willock

Sunderland were linked with a move for Chris Willock at QPR towards the start of the summer transfer window.

The former Arsenal man saw his QPR contract expire at the end of June and it looked like the R’s were closing in on a new deal for the attacker.

But Willock has since signed a three-year deal with Sunderland and QPR’s Championship rivals Cardiff City.

Wolves eyeing Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson

Another Sunderland man who’s not short of Premier League interest right now is goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.

The Sunderland academy graduate has been linked with Liverpool for several months now, though recent reports suggest that Wolves are now taking an interest in the 24-year-old.

Wolves may look towards Patterson as a potential replacement for Arsenal-linked Daniel Bentley this summer.

Sunderland set to miss out on Kieffer Moore

As well as Willock, Sunderland look set to miss out on another name who’s been linked alongside the Black Cats for a while now; Kieffer Moore.

The Welsh international was wanted in January and he’s been linked with a handful of teams this summer.

Hull City looked set to win the race for the striker, though it now seems like Sheffield United are set to win the race for his signature.
