It was all going so well for Sunderland after they announced the loan signing of Enzo Le Fee earlier in January. Now ahead of deadline day, there’s panic.
Sunderland have signed Enzo Le Fee and now Wilson Isidor in this January transfer window. And whilst both very good signings, more is needed.
Another striker signing is required at the Stadium of Light. Isidor’s permanent signing doesn’t add anymore depth to the team, and the Black Cats keep on seeing their rumoured transfer targets move to other clubs.
It surely points towards another frantic end to the transfer window for Kristjaan Speakman and co.

Daniel Cummings’ potential next club revealed amid Sunderland interest
Daniel Cummings has been in headlines recently. The Celtic wonderkid is wanted by a number of teams and Sunderland have been linked too. But the 18-year-old, who’s scored 25 goals in 26 games with Celtic B this season, looks set to join West Ham.
Despite Celtic planning to offer Cummings a new contract, Sky Sports have revealed that the Hammers are ‘closing in on the signing’ and that ‘talks over a pre-contract agreement have reached an advanced stage’.
Alarmingly, Cummings becomes the fourth Sunderland transfer target to either complete a move elsewhere, or come very close to doing so, in the space of 48 hours.
The four players Sunderland have just missed out on
In the last couple of days, Sunderland have seen Rabbi Matondo join Hanover 96 on loan, with a very low £1million option to buy in the summer, and the Black Cats have also seen Akpom agree to join Lille on loan from Ajax.
Then on Saturday it was revealed, it was revealed that Burnley are in advanced talks to sign Marcus Edwards, who’d emerged as a late transfer target for Sunderland as well.
Now with Cummings about to join Wets Ham, it maintains a worrying trend of Sunderland being beaten to transfer targets.
