Sunderland maintain their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 win vs Burnley.
Sunderland welcomed Burnley to the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon, with both teams looking to extend their perfect starts to the 2024/25 season.
Scott Parker’s Clarets went into this weekend in 1st place of the Championship table, with Sunderland in 2nd.
Regis Le Bris has picked up wins against Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday so far, having yet to concede a league goal too.
Burnley promised to be Sunderland’s toughest test of the season yet, especially in the wake of news that Ipswich Town are set to sign Jack Clarke.
But Romaine Mundle stepped into the XI and scored a well-taken goal in the first half.
It’s only Mundle’s second goal for the club and just his first start in the Championship this season.
Sunderland impressed throughout the 90 and claimed a well-deserved win in the end, with the Black Cats and Watford now the only two teams in the Championship to have won their opening three games.
Le Bris’ side sit top of the table on goal difference.

Gary Bennett wowed by Sunderland defending vs Burnley
Sunderland showcased a lot of qualities against Burnley and a lot of improvements from last season.
But BBC pundit Gary Bennett was particularly impressed by the way Sunderland silenced Burnley’s attack, especially in the first half.
Bennett said: “What’s impressing me is the defensive side of it. The discipline side of it.
“The way they’ve kept the shape. They way they’ve got back. They way they’ve made it difficult for Burnley to break them down.
“There’s no way through.”

Regis Le Bris has improved Sunderland’s all round game so far
Sunderland have been extremely resolute so far under Le Bris, who’ll be making the Sunderland owners proud.
They were last time round under their numerous managers, but it seems as though Le Bris has helped take the overall game to the next level.
He’s given Sunderland their attacking flair and bravery back whilst also keeping the team solid at the back.
The likes of Aji Alese have really stepped up this season, then there’s Dan Ballard to come back into the fold too, and it could cause Le Bris a bit of a selection headache.
Luke O’Nien has been in good form this season, but with Alese in form as well, Ballard’s return certainly makes for a nice problem for the Sunderland boss.
Sunderland travel to Portsmouth in the Championship next weekend.
