Jack Clarke is close to completing a move from Sunderland to Ipswich Town.

Jack Clarke looks set to get a second bite at the Premier League cherry, this time with Ipswich Town.

The 23-year-old has had an eventful career so far, going from Leeds United to Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, but failing to make the move work.

Clarke has settled with Sunderland, signing permanently in 2022 and having since gone on to make 89 Championship appearances, with 25 goals and 17 assists.

Last season, Clarke scored 15 and assisted four, with one goal and one assist in the Championship so far this season.

Several Premier League teams have been linked with Clarke this summer, including Crystal Palace, Southampton, and West Ham.

But Ipswich Town have agreed a deal to sign Clarke, with reports that the Tractor Boys were paying an initial £15million for the winger, with the fee eventually rising to £20million.

It was also claimed that Sunderland have inserted a sell-on fee in the move.

But there’s now a fresh price tag emerging for Clarke.

How much are Ipswich Town paying Sunderland for Jack Clarke

Clarke’s price tag has been a topic of debate this summer, with reports suggesting that Sunderland want anywhere between £20-£25million.

But that £25million price tag has been mentioned more than most; even more so after Clarke’s impressive start to the 2024/25 Championship season.

An emerging report from East Anglian Daily Times though has now revealed that Ipswich Town are paying an initial £15million for Clarke, with just £3million in ‘realistic add-ons’.

Sunderland owners have been robbed over Jack Clarke fee

The Sunderland owners have been praised in the past for sticking to their valuations of player.

But they appear to have settled for less with Clarke, who’s by far and away their best and most valuable player.

And recent transfers in the Championship suggest that Sunderland aren’t getting enough for Clarke, like Georginio Rutter from Leeds to Brighton in a £40million deal.

Although Clarke lacks Premier League experience, he’s been one of the Championship’s best and most creative players in the last two years.

For Ipswich, Clarke looks like a very good signing, and they’re getting him for a very good fee too.

For Sunderland, selling Clarke now avoids a potential saga later down the line, with his contract set to expire in 2026.

But Kyril Louis-Dreyfus may come to rue the fee that his side are getting for Clarke.
