Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has outlined some concerns ahead of the clash with Sunderland.

Sunderland will travel to Sheffield Wednesday this Friday, as they look to put an end to their poor recent form.

Regis Le Bris’ side will be hoping for a repeat of the reverse fixture against Sheffield Wednesday, which saw the Black Cats win 4-0 at the Stadium of Light, as Eliezer Mayenda bagged two goals, whilst Luke O’Nien and Dennis Cirkin also popped up with a goal each.

Whilst Sunderland themselves are out of form, having lost two on the bounce against Leeds United and Hull City, they will fancy their chances against a Sheffield Wednesday side with three defeats in their last four, and the Owls will find things even more difficult after their boss, Danny Rohl, outlined the injury concerns they have been faced with in the build up to the game.

Sunderland opponents Sheffield Wednesday set for injury concern as Danny Rohl raises ‘question marks’

Ahead of the clash with Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland have their own injury issues to deal with. Enzo Le Fee will be out of the clash, whilst Dan Ballard is also injured after coming off against Hull City.

However, it appears that Sheffield Wednesday have problems of their own, with Owls boss Rohl speaking about several players that they have ‘question marks’ over.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the upcoming clash with Sunderland, Rohl said: ‘’In general I won’t speak about names.

“But I can just say that it’s been a tough week for us – and you’ll see tomorrow why… There could be players missing.

“Michael Smith is one of the question marks. Ibi [Cissokho] was ill during the week, so let’s see on him – today he trained. Ryo [Hatsuse] has trained a full week. Some players are coming closer, Dom [Iorfa] is coming closer, but we have three or four big question marks this week.’’

What is Sheffield Wednesday’s worst hit area for injuries

Looking at the current list of players Sheffield Wednesday have out of action, their key area of concern will in the heart of defence, with the long-term injury sustained by centre-back Di’Shon Bernard, as well as the concerns surrounding Dominic Iorfa.

Bernard was one of Sheffield Wednesday’s key figures before his untimely injury, and as a result, the Owls’ back-line could be more make-shift, which will work in the favour of Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor.

In recent games, Sunderland have simply been lacklustre in regards to their output in the final third, appearing dimensional and predictable when going forward, and Sheffield Wednesday’s defensive concerns should hopefully spark life and confidence back into the front line, especially with Romaine Mundle’s return.
