A Premier League player linked with Sunderland this summer is now wanted for a second round of talks with another Championship club.
Sunderland have had a fairly subdued start to the summer transfer window, largely due to their prolonged head coach search which lasted beyond four months.
Now though, with Regis Le Bris in place, Sunderland and sporting director Kristjaan Speakman can move ahead with their summer transfer plans, and look to add to the two players they’ve already signed this summer.
So far, free agent duo Simon Moore and Alan Browne have moved to the Stadium of Light. Though many more signings are expected in the coming weeks, ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season getting underway in August.
Mainly, the Black Cats need attacking additions. Speakman has already spoken out on the club’s ongoing striker search, then there may also be names like Jack Clarke and Jobe Bellingham to replace later in the transfer window.

Hull City fancy Jesurun Rak-Sakyi move after Sunderland links
Sunderland have been linked with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi at Crystal Palace this summer, with the Englishman tipped to leave Selhurst Park on loan.
The Black Cats were linked last summer and again at the start of this summer, though Championship rivals Hull City are now eyeing a move for the 21-year-old.
Hull’s vice-chairman Tan Kesler has spoken very candidly about the player, revealing that his side have already held talks and are hoping for more talks, adding that around 15 Championship clubs want to sign Rak-Sakyi this summer.
Kesler told Hull Live: “We are interested in Rak-Sakyi and so are like 15 other Championship clubs.
“We made the best offer. Palace feel very comfortable with him playing for us but I think at the moment he’s getting interest from another Premier League club.
“If he doesn’t go somewhere in the Premier League permanently, I’m confident that I would like to see him with us and we will try to do everything to bring him in.
“We’ve spoken with the agent, we’ve spoken with the player and we’re looking to have another conversation with the player.”

Why Sunderland still have a chance in race to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi
Hull City’s owner and hierarchy are under a bit of pressure from fans this summer for their spending habits.
The Tigers appear to be cutting back after going all out for promotion last summer, with Kesler often making very open comments, which often need to be taken with a pinch of salt.
It may be true that Rak-Sakyi has plenty of interest from teams in the Championship, but he may well hold out for this reported Premier League move.
Sunderland though remains a very good place for youngsters to play their football. And should one of Clarke of Bellingham leave then Rak-Sakyi might be able to get a guarantee of first-team football should he arrive on Wearside.
Sunderland certainly aren’t out of the race for his signature, but it remains a very difficult deal to get over the line.
