Sunderland could see one or two players leave this month.
Sunderland appear to have a lot cooking in the transfer market right now.
The Black Cats remain keen on signing a striker, with Alexandre Mendy still a target, along with a new name too.
Sunderland appear confident of striking a deal for Mendy whilst Kristjaan Speakman has now added Zenit striker Wilson Isidor to the Black Cats’ shortlist.
Then there’s the small matter of potential player exits, with Jack Clarke wanted by Leeds United.
Sunderland want £25million for Clarke who shone against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, and right now it seems as though no clubs are willing to meet that valuation.
It’s also claimed that Clarke has not rejected a Sunderland contract despite reports claiming that he had rejected a contract offer.
And there could be other, perhaps less high-profile player departures at the Stadium of Light before the August 30th transfer deadline.
Speakman and the Sunderland owners may be keen to clear some deadwood and loan out some of the names who won’t feature.

Reading eyeing loan deal for Sunderland man Jewison Bennette
Sunderland completed the signing of Jewison Bennette from Costa Rican outfit Herediano in the summer of 2022.
The 20-year-old signed a four-year contract with Sunderland, but so far, the Costa Rica international winger hasn’t made too much of an impression.
Bennette has made just 16 league appearances since joining Sunderland, making one last time round and spending time out on loan with Aris in Greece, without impressing.
This season, Bennette is yet to be named in a matchday squad in the Championship, playing just 10 minutes of the Carabao Cup defeat vs Preston North End.
Now, it’s claimed by Reading fan website Tilehurst End that League One Reading ‘have a loan signing lined up’ in Bennette.
There’s no official confirmation of the proposed signing just yet.
Make or break for Jewison Bennette after tough Sunderland stint so far
Speakman has made a lot of good signings during his time with Sunderland. But Bennette isn’t one of them.
At least not for the time being; he’s yet to make a breakthrough into the first-team, but to his defence, he’s perhaps not had a good chance to shine out on loan.
Aris was a tough time for Bennette but spending time with a club in England could get Bennette more up to speed with the demands of the English game.
Reading have quite a big first-team squad and so whether or not Bennette would get huge amounts of game time remains to be seen.
But if he can break into the starting XI, get a run of games together and even score some goals, then he could quickly start to realise his potential.
Expect Speakman and Regis Le Bris to keep a close eye on his development if Bennette does go out on loan this summer.
