Leeds United ‘well aware’ of Sunderland star, but Farke would have to break the bank

The Sunderland attacker has received a lot of interest so far this summer.

Sunderland have gone about their business rather quietly this summer, bringing in the likes of Championship experienced players Alan Browne and Ian Poveda in shrewd deals.

However, successes in this field have unfortunately been overshadowed by the ongoing recruitment struggles as Kristjaan Speakman looks to bring in a striker this summer.

Alexandre Mendy is a name that has been linked with Sunderland for the best part of a month, however it seems to be a deal that will go the distance after several complications, despite the player seemingly wanting the move to go ahead.

Aside from transfers, Sunderland have done very well to keep hold of key players, including Jack Clarke, Anthony Patterson and Jobe Bellingham, the latter of which has committed his future to the club after signing a new deal.

However, one of Sunderland’s stars are set to be of high interest this summer as Leeds United emerge as a side that are looking to take a prominent player in Regis Le Bris’ squad.

Leeds United ‘well aware’ of Sunderland winger Jack Clarke

Sunderland are reportedly ‘well aware’ of Sunderland attacker Clarke in a transfer saga that will be ‘one to watch’ up until the deadline, per Mike McGrath on X.

The winger previously played for Leeds United after coming through their academy, before being sold to Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.

Whilst Sunderland are in ‘no pressure to sell’ Clarke this summer, there is the added possibility that they could sell ‘if a club offers huge money’, and that could certainly be the case with Leeds United with their previous player sales this summer.

Sunderland’s positive financial situation should leave Speakman with one clear strategy in Jack Clarke saga

As a result of the positive finances surrounding Sunderland at this moment, and the fact that they dont need to unnecessarily let players go at the club, they could easily shape this summer and the Clarke situation exactly how they want.

Providing that Clarke doesn’t have clear demands of leaving the club and joining back up with Leeds United this summer, Speakman can easily use the current financial situation to his advantage and play hardball until a massive fee comes his way.

Leeds United are in a situation that might see them spend recklessly this summer, particularly after the sales of key players such as Georgino Rutter and Crysencio Summerville, and there will be no surprises if a lofty bid is submitted for Clarke as a result.

Sunderland must take this stance on all players that have a future at the club, and take advantage of the fact that Sunderland do not have to be a selling club at this point in order to compete.
