Sunderland has now secured the future of one of its biggest stars after Jobe Bellingham signed a new long-term contract.
Going into the summer transfer window, the future of many of the Sunderland squad was up in the air. The club had a terrible end to the 2023/24 campaign and had no permanent manager.
However, since Regis Le Bris’ appointment, the Frenchman has gone about securing the future of Sunderland’s best talents.
One such player was Chris Rigg as he signed a new contract at Sunderland to end the speculation surrounding the midfielder.
Now, Bellingham has joined the youngster, after he signed a new four-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
Jobe Bellingham ‘buzzing’ to sign new Sunderland deal
Bellingham was one of many players who looked like they may depart this summer.
Multiple Premier League clubs were after the midfielder. This saw Crystal Palace have a bid rejected for the Bellingham earlier in the window.
However, the 18-year-old now confirmed that he will be staying at the club, believing that they are on course to achieve plenty of things this season.
Bellingham said: “I’m buzzing to sign this contract and extend my stay at Sunderland. I feel like I have a lot of unfinished business and I believe we can achieve some great things this season.
“This is such an amazing city and I’m so proud to represent the people within it. Everyone has made me feel right at home and I couldn’t imagine playing for a Club where it didn’t mean as much as it does to our fans. I enjoy playing for Sunderland and I can’t wait to get back to the Stadium of Light this weekend.”

With Bellingham now set to stay at the club, it gives the side a real chance to push up the table and try their hand at promotion once more.
While many of the Stadium of Light faithful are hopeful that a new striker will be added before deadline day, they also could not fault the club for their work behind the scenes.
