Liverpool striker Jayden Danns looks as though he could head out on loan before 11pm on Monday night, when the January transfer window shuts. Sunderland are among those interested.
Sunderland could go down a very familiar path in signing a young and unproven Premier League player on loan. It’s sometimes worked very well for the Black Cats, though other times it hasn’t.
Particularly up front, Sunderland have had little luck signing Premier League strikers on loan: both Joe Gelhardt and Mason Burstow flopped at Sunderland.
Now, Liverpool’s Jayden Danns is linked with Sunderland, as well as top six rivals Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn Rovers will tempt Jayden Danns with a promotion push
Journalist Alan Nixon has now revealed on Patreon how John Eustace will tempt Danns to Blackburn Rovers before deadline day. He writes that Eustace ‘will use the Rovers promotion push to inspire’ Danns to moving to Ewood Park.
But Rovers also have other tricks up their sleeve. They and Liverpool have a good relationship with several Reds talents having had successful loan spells at Ewood Park in recent years, including Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton.
What’s more is that Danns’ father, former striker Neil Danns who played for Crystal Palace and many others, started out at Blackburn Rovers.

Why Blackburn Rovers’ plan to beat Sunderland in Jayden Danns race could backfire
Blackburn does make sense for Danns who may have an emotional aspect to respect, and Liverpool have good reason to send him to Lancashire too.
But if Sunderland are keen then Eustace may have a hard time selling the promotion push to Danns. Blackburn are in 5th compared to Sunderland in 4th, and 10 points separate the two, with just five points between Rovers and 13th place Millwall.
| 4 | Sunderland | 29 | 15 | 10 | 4 | 42 | 24 | 18 | 55 |
| 5 | Blackburn | 30 | 13 | 6 | 11 | 34 | 29 | 5 | 45 |
Regis Le Bris and Sunderland can arguably sell a better promotion push than Blackburn, and with only Wilson Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda up top, the latter often playing in other positions too, there could be a lot of game time available for Danns at the Stadium of Light.
