Sunderland man enduring nightmare season with loan club, he can’t get anywhere near the XI

A Sunderland player out on loan is currently enduing a rather hellish start to this season.

Sunderland worked hard during the summer transfer window, particularly towards the end.

There were plenty comings and goings at the Stadium of Light with four new players arriving on deadline day alone.

Kristjaan Speakman and the Sunderland owners were hard at work, making a noticeable effort to move on some deadwood in the first-team squad.

They couldn’t’ shift it all, however. Several names like Adil Aouchiche and Abdoullah Ba remain, and remain in the doldrums under Regis Le Bris.

But the likes of Pierre Ekwah and Luis Hemir were among those who left Sunderland on loan.

Both are playing their share of football this season, but that’s not the case for Timothee Pembele.

Pembele joined Le Havre in Ligue 1. Shortly after, Pembele hit out at Sunderland, saying that he never felted trusted by the coaches last season and that Le Bris’ arrival changed nothing for him.

Timothee Pembele enduring nightmare season with Le Havre

Didier Digard’s Le Havre currently sit in 15th place of the Ligue 1 table; just one point and one place above the drop zone after the opening seven games.

The club have now lost their last four league games and have scored just once in those four games.

Pembele meanwhile; he’s yet to even make his debut. The former PSG man can’t make it off the bench for loan club Le Havre, and on occasion, he doesn’t even make the bench.

Nothing has been said in French media about why Pembele isn’t playing for Le Havre. But it certainly seems like his loan move isn’t going to plan so far.

Could Sunderland recall Timothee Pembele in January

Pembele seemed to burn his bridges at Sunderland when he made those comments about the club and about Le Bris.

Le Bris is already beloved by fans and going against him certainly won’t do Pembele any favours.

And now, Pembele is sitting on the bench at Le Havre, watching his team losing games and not being able to do anything about it.

It seems as though Pembele might have to wait for an injury to another player to stand a chance of getting into the side.

He can’t even get minutes off the bench right now which suggests that he’s way down in the pecking order.

If it continues then a change could well be made in January. Speakman will still want Pembele to try and fulfil his potential, even if the signs so far have not been positive.
