Sunderland will certainly be scouring the transfer market for some new blood in January. As ever, the Premier League could be one of the first places that the Black Cats look.
Sunderland may have big plans for the January transfer window, which is now open for business.
And for Regis Le Bris’ side, some new signings may be very necessary with the club’s form having been very mixed in the last few weeks.
Last time out, Sunderland lost 1-0 against Stoke City and subsequently saw a seven-point gap open up to league leaders Leeds United, as Sunderland remain in 4th place of the Championship table.
And already, it’s been reported that Sunderland are ready to move for Premier League loan targets with a number having been linked so far.
The likes of Evan Ferguson and Louie Barry have been linked; two attacking players which might suggest where Kristjaan Speakman’s focus is at right now.
But neither could be as good a loan signing as Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall facing uncertain January at Chelsea, he’s perfect for Sunderland
Dewsbury-Hall scooped two Leicester City Player of the Season awards as he helped the Foxes win the Championship title last time round.
He was also in the EFL and PFA Championship Team of the Season after scoring 12 and assisting 14 more in 44 Championship matches for the club.
Manager Enzo Maresca left Leicester City for Chelsea in the summer and took Dewsbury-Hall with him in a £30million transfer, though it’s been tough going for Dewsbury-Hall so far.
It’s been revealed by Daily Mail that Chelsea could send Dewsbury-Hall out on loan in January with the midfielder having made just five Premier League appearances for his new club, with no starts in the league.

Sunderland could sign Chris Rigg 2.0 with January move for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Dewsbury-Hall is a lot like Sunderland star Chris Rigg: both are central players who are very effective in tight spaces, turning defence into attack, with both knowing where the back of the net is too.
But Dewsbury-Hall is a lot more experienced. Last season proved his quality at Championship level and should he be loaned out in January, a move to the top end of the second tier would make sense.
Rigg is injured for Sunderland right now. It maybe highlights the need for extra bodies at Sunderland for the second half of the season if they’re to maintain their fast-paced style, as well as their promotion push.
Also, Dewsbury-Hall being left-footed would give Le Bris a new outlet in the middle. And it would allow for Le Bris to play a midfield three should he wish, with Dewsbury-Hall also able to operate as a no.10 or even a wide player.
There’s a lot to like about the possibility of Dewsbury-Hall to Sunderland. For the player too, it could be an ideal move to keep him fit and firing, and to put him back in contention at Chelsea.
