One recent Champions League club’s recent transfer interest in one Sunderland star should have an obvious conclusion.
Sunderland fans have become quite familiar with recent transfer interest in their hottest prospects, and that is something that has revealed that their current form has proven to be somewhat of a double-edged sword.
Several of the younger players within the side have shone within Regis Le Bris’ side, and it is clear that they were always going to drum up interest, with top clubs around Europe keeping tabs on Sunderland’s top talents.
One of which is 17-year-old midfielder Chris Rigg, who has sparked plenty of interest from Premier League sides, including Man United.
Another is, unsurprisingly, Jobe Bellingham, whose chances of staying in Wearside have been regarded as fairly unlikely at the end of this season, although it will certainly depend on the club’s promotion prospects.
Bellingham has received more concrete interest as of lately, however there is one key issue with Sunderland at this moment in time which should answer a key Kristjaan Speakman question in relation to the potential deal.

Borussia Dortmund show interest in Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham
Bellingham has been one of Sunderland’s top performers so far in the 2024/25 Championship campaign, and there is no surprise to see that he has generated interest from elsewhere.
In this instance, he has received interest from Borussia Dortmund, who are reportedly ready to move for the young Black Cats midfielder, per Alan Nixon on Patreon.
The German side are hoping to repeat the successes of when they signed Jude Bellingham from Birmingham in a deal that Sunderland are reportedly willing to sanction for around £20million.

Recent Sunderland blip should give indicator for Kristjaan Speakman’s next move
There is no doubting that Bellingham has proven to be a crucial figure within Le Bris’ current side, and the recent blip for the Black Cats has been a clear indicator for that.
Bellingham was handed a red card in the away 0-0 draw against Queens Park Rangers, and in the two games since that, Sunderland have endured a winless run with yet another two draws.
This is a massive sign that life without Bellingham at Sunderland would certainly be very difficult, and what he offers to the side is far too much to relinquish for a £20million fee in January.
If Sunderland are to move on the hot prospect, they must look to keep him until the end of the 2024/25 Championship season, otherwise their promotion prospects could certainly be tarnished to an extent.
