Sunderland star Enzo Le Fee completed one remarkable thing on his debut that highlights how crucial he is set to be.

The Black Cats picked up a point on their travels on Friday evening as they drew 0-0 with Scott Parker’s Burnley.

Sunderland more than held their own away from home against a fellow promotion chasing Championship side, with the Black Cats players arguably feeling as though it was two points dropped after Wilson Isidor had two penalties saved by James Trafford.

Despite the scoreline, Black Cats fans got to witness Enzo Le Fee on his Sunderland debut, and all signs are now pointing towards him being a top force for Regis Le Bris’ side after the game.

Although the Frenchman was played in a less familiar role on the left flank, he looked impeccable on the ball and with his passing, to the point where he has already ranked above all but one Sunderland player in a key area, something that will be crucial if he can repeat that on a regular basis.

Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fee abilities around long passing highlighted by key stat

Following the 0-0 draw, many highlighted Le Fee’s abilities with the ball at his feet, always being one step ahead and looking to thread the ball through to the attackers. An example of this was when Isidor was set up for a major opportunity after Le Fee’s angular ball from the left found his fellow Frenchman.

The great ability of Le Fee can’t be understated, especially considering, via Fbref, the Sunderland midfielder already sits 2nd in the list of Black Cats players with the highest long pass completion rate, only behind Jobe Bellingham.

Whilst this is only after one game, it highlights that, if Le Fee can achieve these stats regularly, he could get the very best out of Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda as well, who often look to run off the last defender’s shoulder and utilise their pace.

Regis Le Bris could be the limiting factor in Enzo Le Fee utilising full passing potential

Despite there being many calls of praise for Le Fee following his performance against Burnley, some fans highlighted that his abilities could be getting somewhat limited due to the position he was utilised in.

Le Bris opted to slot Le Fee into the left flank for the clash with Burnley, as opposed to his more familiar central position.

With the Frenchman not being played through the middle, it could be suggested that Le Bris won’t be getting the most out of him, from the lack of coverage he will get on the ball, to the difficulty of spotting the runners of Mayenda and Isidor.

It is not known yet if Le Fee will continue to slot in on the left, but Le Bris must be aware that he isn’t likely to get the very best out of his signing when utilised there.
