Black Cats fans all picked up on one glaring aspect of Trai Hume’s game after the draw with Burnley.
Sunderland were held to pick up just one point at Turf Moor as they drew 0-0 with Scott Parker’s Burnley.
Wilson Isidor’s two penalty misses took centre-stage after the game, leading to the Frenchman posting an apology message to the fans, however, despite the outcome, Sunderland supporters rallied support around the attacker, and rather pointed their fingers elsewhere.
The defence was highlighted for mistakes at times against Burnley, with full-back Trai Hume often being at the centre of a few mishaps.
The Sunderland fans noticed something in the Northern Irishman’s performance, one that continued a fairly unwanted trend.

Sunderland fans highlight ‘poor’ aspect of Trai Hume after performance vs Burnley
The Black Cats came away from Turf Moor with a clean sheet under their belts, but it didn’t come without a few hairy moments courtesy of the defence, with passing and distributions often being the achilles heel for Regis Le Bris’ side.
Sunderland fans, via X, recognised the issues surrounding Hume and his distribution, as one said: “don’t know what’s going on with Hume lately, been poor.”
Another was more specific with his judgement of the full-back, who believed that ‘Hume is not helping with distribution of the ball, keeps putting us under pressure’, and it has also been highlighted that he has struggled in the final third, as one fan suggested that ‘his crosses used to be on the money every time’.
The Sunderland defender, who was described by another Black Cats fan as ‘totally devoid of confidence’ was also handed his critics on the defensive side, as it was also suggested that ‘any half decent winger tortures him’.

Trai Hume stats vs Burnley show weakness that Regis Le Bris must solve
When it comes to the defensive side of Hume’s showing, per SofaScore, he didn’t manage a single tackle, clearance or interception and was dribbled past on one occasion. Admittedly, this highlights that the Northern Irishman wasn’t exactly targeted by Burnley and was almost frozen out of the game as a result.
Despite Hume’s lack of defensive involvement, which can’t quite be tagged as his fault, his passing stats suggest that distribution is a key area that must be improved.
Hume managed a 75% passing accuracy, but lost possession a total of 17 times, suggesting that he wasn’t often distributing with enough urgency, something that Le Bris will certainly want to correct in order to get the best out of his full-backs.
