Former Sunderland man Mike Dodds has earned the praise of Wycombe Wanderers fans after their recent win.
On the 2nd of February, Sunderland coach Mike Dodds took up the head coach role at Wycombe Wanderers, his first permanent head coach role after serving on Wearside as an assistant.
Joining a high-flying League One side that had shone under former boss Matt Bloomfield, who left the Chairboys for struggling Luton Town, there was always going to be pressure on Dodds to continue his predecessor’s work and deliver a promotion to the Championship.
Whilst at times it has been difficult for Dodds at Wycombe, including a difficult defeat to Wrexham two weeks ago, he appears to have reversed the damage after his most recent win, one that has resulted in praise from the Wanderers fans.

Former Sunderland man Mike Dodds praised after notching well-needed Wycombe Wanderers win
At the weekend Wycombe overcame Lincoln City with a 1-0 home win, a scrappy affair that was far from pretty, but saw former Sunderland man Dodds’ side have to show grit and determination to grind out the victory.
Following the game, Dodds delivered an interview to the Wycombe in-house media, to which was met with huge praise by the fans, who took to X, with one saying that he ‘feels like he is learning fast. Football isn’t great at the moment but we grind out wins’.
Another said that ‘Mike’s fired up here and good on him – he’s warming to this job, keep backing the boys’.
Praise for his post-match interview came in abundance, as one fan said: “Another brilliant assessment & pure honesty from Dodds. Fans need to wind it in a bit. Yes, performances haven’t been great,t but that’s two really good 3 pts no matter the opposition. Don’t be entitled just because of league position. Football at this level doesn’t work like that.”
Another supporter summed up their thoughts on Dodds in a much snappier manner, simplay saying that he is ‘spot on. This is his best interview yet by a way’.

Mike Dodds has the capabilities to be a top EFL manager
When Dodds took over the top job at League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers, Sunderland fans met the news with disappointment to see such an integral part of the backroom staff move on, but nonetheless wished him luck as he ventured into what was an unknown for him.
A former assistant going into head coaching doesn’t always work out brilliantly, with Michael Beale, Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Rangers, being a prime example for his tenure on Wearside, but that hasn’t been the case so far for Dodds whilst at Wycombe.
Hopefully, he can notch a promotion with Wycombe, something that will only build his image in the game, and provide a platform for him to really kick on in his coaching career, as Sunderland fans already know that his work with youngsters, as well as many other things truly hold him in good stead to do well.
