One Sunderland player put on an immense performance that was deemed player of the season worthy.
Sunderland beat Millwall this weekend on home turf as Trai Hume bagged the sole goal of the game after a brilliantly well-worked set-piece found the Northern Irishman lurking on the left side of the box to hammer home.
The Black Cats had several players perform brilliantly, including Patrick Roberts and his ‘outstanding’ showing, as well as Alan Browne, who looked composed as a makeshift right-back.
However, no one quite came close to one man, who was hailed for his incredible efforts in the victory against Millwall, and Michael Graham reflected on how his showing proved he was worthy of the player of the season accolade at the end of the 2024/25 Championship campaign.

Michael Graham believes Trai Hume is player of the season worthy after top Sunderland performance vs Millwall
Out of the several players that were immense against Millwall, not many could quite compare to Trai Hume, who showed attacking and defensive dominance, all while playing out of position at left back.
The Sunderland defender bagged the winning goal with a lovely finish, but that was far from his only contribution to the side as he played an integral role in ensuring a clean sheet was kept.
Taking to X, Michael Graham gave his views on the full-back after the game, to which he said: “My player of the season. Consistency, commitment, quality, and product. Really can’t ask for more, can you?”
Does Trai Hume deserve the player of the season accolade
Sunderland have undergone a brilliant 2024/25 Championship campaign that finds them planted in 4th in the table, a remarkable feat for Regis Le Bris’ side when you compare it to the troubles they endured last season.
Because of this, it is quite a tricky choice when choosing a player of the season, with Jobe Bellingham, Wilson Isidor, Dan Neil, Chris Mepham and many more players worthy of taking such an award.
However, the consistency that Hume has shown this season is levels above everyone in the side, and is something that has held him in good stead this campaign, and will arguably be the difference maker in him being recognised as Sunderland’s player of the season.
