One Sunderland signing put in a brilliant showing for the U21s against Sheffield United.
The Black Cats’ academy has been thriving in recent years, and the product is tangible with the likes of Chris Rigg and Dan Neil controlling the midfield for the first-team on a weekly basis.
At just the age-of-17, Rigg is already being referred to as a generational talent, and Neil is leading out his boyhood club at 22-years-old, something that is a real testament to the Academy of Light and how brilliant it has been in producing brilliant talents over the years.
The current U21 side is currently brimming with talent, however one new Sunderland signing that got a run out for the side managed to steal the show.
Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris was even present to see the new arrival put in a ‘wonderful’ performance, and there are no doubts that he will become ever-more present in the first-team following the international break.

Sunderland signing Wilson Isidor praised for brilliant U21 performance
New Sunderland attacker Wilson Isidor arrived from Zenit this summer and he looks to be a real statement signing based on his abilities shown at youth level for Sunderland so far.
Per Sunderland Echo, the French striker/winger was given very little action early on, however ‘provided some wonderful moments of hold-up play’.
He looked a real handful as he ‘grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck’ and he has been said to be ‘more than ready to make an impact for the first team’.
The game finished 1-0 to Sheffield United, however Isidor came close to notching an assist after he ‘played a sumptuous ball into Harrison Jones in the first half that deserved a goal on its own’.

Does Wilson Isidor get straight into the first team
The performances and abilities put on show from the 24-year-old would likely in many situations warrant a start in the first team.
It is clear that Isidor will be able to be utilised either at striker or down the left-flank, although the latter appears at this point to be more likely after he played out wide on his U21 debut.
The attacker has shown bags of quality, however the recent performances of both Romaine Mundle and Eliezer Mayenda make them undroppable at this point.
It would have been highly expected that the former Zenit man would swoop straight into a first team slot following the departure of Jack Clarke to Premier League side Ipswich Town, however Mundle has managed to slot in brilliantly in recent weeks in the vacant wide slot, and Mayenda’s form also makes him undroppable at this point.
