It seems Sunderland fans are firmly in agreement as to who the next wonderkid at Sunderland should be, and they want to see him in the first-team as soon as possible.
Sunderland are absolutely blessed with a number of incredible young players right now, from Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham, to the more recent emergence of Tommy Watson.
It’s clear the Sunderland academy is a fantastic pathway for youth players to get a chance to go right to the top, and Regis Le Bris is more than happy to hand them that opportunity.
But, one youngster has not been given his debut yet, and fans are growing restless after his latest performance for the Under-18s.

Trey Ogunsuyi is knocking on the door louder than ever
Trey Ogunsuyi has been in fine form for Sunderland’s Under-21 side all season, having been promoted to the next age group despite only just turning 19-years-old recently.
However, he was needed by the Under-18s this week for an FA Youth Cup clash against Derby County, and Ogunsuyi did not disappoint, bagging yet another goal to continue his highly prolific season.
Sunderland may have lost the tie, but Ogunsuyi came in for big praise from the Sunderland fans on Twitter/X, with the consensus being that they want to see him get a chance with the senior team immediately.
One supporter said, “We can’t wait until he teams up with Wilson Isidor,” while another wrote, “He will be the next person breaking into the first team.”
Le Bris was given a not-so-subtle message by plenty of the fans, with one posting: “Love to see Ogunsuyi get a run out in the first-team. Such a talented young footballer who will only develop and progress as his career goes on but would love to see Regis include him in first-team.”
One fan even had a bleak warning, stating: “Hope he gets some first-team action soon otherwise it’s going go Ryan Noble again.” Noble famously looked like an incredible emerging talent at Sunderland back in the day, but his career came to nothing.
Thankfully, another Sunderland supporter was more positive, posting: “We are the club for homegrown talent and giving young talented footballers an opportunity to shine and develop.”

2025 will be a big year for Trey Ogunsuyi, but will he stay at Sunderland?
We believe Ogunsuyi will make his debut in the FA Cup tie against Stoke City on January 11, 2025. It’s the perfect opportunity for Le Bris to give his untested youngsters a chance.
Still, Ogunsuyi has been told he needs to improve in certain areas if he is to become a top striker, and naturally, this raw talent has a long way to go in his career.
Regardless, 2025 is sure to be a huge year for the 19-year-old, with a Sunderland breakthrough almost certainly on the horizon.
From there, he could establish himself as a first-team regular. Or, perhaps Liverpool will make good on their interest in Ogunsuyi and snare him away from Sunderland. Either way, exciting things lie ahead for the talented teenager.
