Incoming Sunderland signing Enzo Le Fee’s agent has spoken about the Frenchman’s desire to arrive on Wearside.

The Black Cats are closing in on the signing of Enzo Le Fee in a loan move from AS Roma.

The French midfielder will be arriving with a loan-to-buy option that will be triggered if Sunderland reach promotion to the Premier League.

As statement signings go, Le Fee’s imminent arrival has certainly alerted others to show that Sunderland are very much preparing for a promotion push, with Kristjaan Speakman clearly supporting manager Regis Le Bris with the signings needed to compete with the likes of Leeds United and Sheffield United at the top of the tree.

Not only is it an exceptional piece of business by Speakman to bring in a player of such a high calibre, but it is clear that he is more than willing to drop divisions to join Sunderland, and Le Fee’s agent has revealed exactly why the Frenchman wanted the move to Wearside.

Enzo Le Fee outlines reason for him joining Sunderland, with Regis Le Bris playing a crucial role

Sunderland’s incoming bolster signing Le Fee played under Black Cats boss Le Bris at FC Lorient, and as a result, it is certainly not surprising to reveal that the French coach has been crucial in bringing the player to the Stadium of Light.

It has been told, via Le Telegramme’s reporter Arnaud Le Sauce, who spoke to Le Fee’s agent, that Le Bris has been highlighted as a key figure in the signing coming through.

Le Sauce said: “I spoke to the agent of Enzo today on the phone, just two minutes before he took his plane, and he told me that when Enzo knew that Sunderland were interested, he didn’t want to be anywhere else. He wanted to be with Regis Le Bris.”

Sunderland boss Le Bris has remained tight-lipped about the incoming signing, but his arrival appears to be imminent after he was seen at the Stadium of Light.

Enzo Le Fee comments outline exactly what current Black Cats players believe

Based on how Le Fee performed under Le Bris during the pair’s spell at FC Lorient, there was never any doubt over the reasons why the Frenchman wanted to join Sunderland, but his words actually echoed what Black Cats players have already been saying for months.

The Sunderland boss, ever since he joined the club in the summer, has managed to galvanise the entire squad, and have them all playing at the peak of their powers, which is a truly remarkable feat considering the dip in form in the back end of the 2023/24 Championship season.

Looking at the midfield especially, Sunderland’s duo of Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg in-the centre-of-the-park, whilst being shining lights in the bleak campaign under Michael Beale and Mike Dodds, have certainly improved massively under the French boss, and that will in turn help them realise that Le Bris is crucial in their development.

Le Bris has created a brilliant atmosphere around the club, and there is no doubt that it is reflecting in the performances.
