Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris spoke to the press on Thursday afternoon ahead of his side’s FA Cup clash against Stoke City. Needless to say, Enzo Le Fee was the hot topic.
Enzo Le Fee is reportedly on his way to Sunderland. The Black Cats look as though they’re about to pull off one of the biggest coups the Championship will see all season as the Roma midfielder makes his way to the Stadium of Light.
The latest is that Sunderland have agreed a deal to sign Le Fee on loan from Roma. It’ll be a loan deal with an obligation to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent deal should the club earn promotion to the Premier League, with a £20million fee reported.
Sunderland will pay Le Fee’s Roma wages until June and so it’s an expensive signing for the Black Cats, but one that will undoubtedly bolster their promotion push going into the second half of the campaign.

Regis Le Bris quizzed on Enzo Le Fee to Sunderland
Regis Le Bris sat down in front of the press on Thursday afternoon, and the first thing he was asked about was Le Fee, unsurpisingly.
But the Frenchman is keeping his cards close to his chest. He replied when asked about what he can say about the move: “Speculations are speculations. I can’t say anything right now because it’s not done.”
The Black Cats are next in action at home to Stoke City in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon. Asked if Le Fee could be a Sunderland player by then, Le Bris responded: “We don’t know.”
When will Enzo Le Fee arrive at Sunderland?
With the deal seemingly agreed upon and finalised, fans are now waiting to hear when Le Fee will officially b arriving at the club.
And it doesn’t look like supporters will have to wait long with The Athletic’s Michael Walker revealing on BlueSky on Thursday that Le Fee is on his way to Wearside. He posted: “Enzo Le Fee preparing to travel to Sunderland for medical. Expect it to be done today.”
It’ll be Sunderland’s first signing of this January transfer window, and it could well go down as one of their best-ever January signings.
Le Fee brings bags of quality to the side and it’ll surely frighten those vying for Championship promotion alongside Sunderland, whose midfield department is now looking extra strong.
