Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has been given heaps of praise by one EFL expert.
Sunderland currently find themselves 4th in the Championship as we enter the next international break.
Whilst the form prior looked on the shaky side, with Sunderland falling to a poor 3-0 defeat to Coventry City, the overall season has seen Regis Le Bris’ side defy expectations, especially considering they finished in a lowly and disappointing 16th place in the 2023/24 campaign.
Because of the job that the Sunderland boss has done since taking the reigns this summer, he has been showered with praise by one EFL expert who sought to rank each individual manager in the Championship.

EFL expert Benjamin Bloom praises Regis Le Bris and abilities of guiding young Sunderland side
Sunderland this season have gone from strength to strength at times, showing themselves to be a potent attacking threat at their peak, with Wilson Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda notably playing a huge part in the final third, whilst Chris Mepham has helped to further consolidate the Black Cats’ abilities across the backline. Even in midfield, Jobe Bellingham, Chris Rigg, and Dan Neil continue to shine as they further their development.
Barring a few poor results recently, which could be put down to exhaustion amongst the ranks, several players have hit the peak of their powers under Le Bris, and the French boss is ultimately the one to thank.
EFL expert Benjamin Bloom has praised the Sunderland man and the job he has done so far this season, as he said, on YouTube: “Le Bris is in fourth place in the table and you know he doesn’t have a parachute payment and he has a young squad. I know Sunderland were up there the first season they were promoted but they weren’t last season. He’s just done a superb job.”
In the video, Bloom ranked Le Bris as the 5th best manager in the Championship, whilst former Sunderland man Tony Mowbray came in at 4th. Filling the top three were Chris Wilder, Daniel Farke and Scott Parker.
Regis Le Bris has the abilities to turn around key Black Cats worry ahead of playoffs
With eight games left to play in the 2024/25 Championship season, it is safe to assume that Sunderland have consolidated their place in the playoffs, but find themselves too far away from the automatic promotion spots.
As a result, Sunderland boss Le Bris will need to prepare for the dreaded promotion playoffs, and one thing that he must look to turn around is the current Black Cats form.
Sunderland previously went on a shaky spell of form earlier on in the Championship campaign, with the Black Cats notching five draws and a defeat in a row throughout November, before turning it around to then win three of their next four games.
Le Bris has pulled Sunderland out of the mire before, and there should be no concerns that the Black Cats can’t turn around their form before the business end of the season, and the international break could give the French boss the perfect opportunity to galvanise the troops.
