Here is how Regis Le Bris’ side fared individually in Sunderland’s defeat to Coventry City.
Sunderland suffered defeat to Coventry City at the CBS Arena, with Regis Le Bris’ side looking a shadow of their usual selves.
It was a turgid display from the Black Cats, particuarly in the first half as Sunderland went down after Haji Wright opened the scoring early into the tie, and the American international doubled his tally moments later from the spot.
The abysmal performance continued into the second half as Coventry continued to threaten the Black Cats’ goal. They made their chances count with Wright notching a hat-trick.
Following the poor away defeat for Le Bris’ side, here is how we rated the performances of each individual…

Anthony Patterson
Arguably could have potentially denied Wright for his opener. Did well to deny Bobby Thomas’ header with a fine low save. Didn’t cover himself in glory for Wright’s third after getting chipped. 5/10.
Trai Hume
Occasionally wasteful in possession and didn’t look at his best just like his defensive counterparts. 6/10.
Chris Mepham
Very poor and sloppy defending to bring down Wright to concede a penalty. Struggled immensely to show himself as that dependable and solid centre-back that we have grown used to seeing. 4/10.

Luke O’Nien
Had a tricky afternoon against Coventry City danger man, Wright, often having to resort to fouling the American. 5/10.
Dennis Cirkin
Lacklustre defending on display by him, and often lacked urgency. Also snatched at a half chance in the first half, blazing a shot well wide. Poor showing was cut short by injury. 4/10.
Dan Neil
Often lost possession in the centre of the park and was very unambitious in the rare moments he picked up the ball. Replaced 56 minutes on having offered very little. 4/10.

Jobe Bellingham
Once again was outnumbered by the Coventry midfield because of Le Bris’ decision of utilising a midfield two. Wasn’t himself, whether it be a surprising lack of energy or quality on the ball. 5/10.
Chris Rigg
Left Le Bris rueing his decision to drop Alan Browne for him. Struggled to get close to the ball, making just eight completed passes in the first half, losing possession on 11 occasions. 5/10.
Patrick Roberts
Anonymous on the right wing in the opening stages, hardly fashioning any chances. 4/10.

Romaine Mundle
Replaced early in the second half after struggling to provide an attacking impact. 5/10.
Eliezer Mayenda
Tried to get himself involved, chasing the ball, but struggled to make a significant difference up front. Had a chance to half the deficit on the hour mark, but steered his effort wide. 5/10.
Wilson Isidor
Introduced early in the second stanza. Snatched his first opportunity 10 minutes into his appearance, having lashed a golden opportunity wide. 5/10.
Tommy Watson
Was substituted in to replace Romaine Mundle. 5/10.
Jenson Seelt
Handed a surprise substitute showing after coming on for the injured Dennis Cikrin. 5/10.
