Sunderland attacker Eliezer Mayenda has been questioned whilst on international duty about his relationship with Jobe Bellingham.
With the international break underway, Sunderland have a handful of players away from camp representing their nation.
Notably, Jobe Bellingham and Dennis Cirkin were handed England U21 call-ups, but the latter has had to pull out due to his recent injury issues. Chris Rigg has also been called up, representing the U19s.
Elsewhere, Trai Hume and Chris Mepham have been called up to represent Northern Ireland and Wales respectively, whilst Sunderland loanee Nectarios Triantis was handed his first Australia call-up.
Another player set to notch valuable game time away from Wearside is Eliezer Mayenda, who was called up to Spain U19s after his fine form this season. Of course, the first thing that Mayenda was asked about was playing alongside Jude Bellingham’s brother Jobe…

Eliezer Mayenda brushes aside Jude Bellingham question and praises Sunderland star Jobe
When taking up press duties whilst on international duty with Spain U19s, Mayenda was questioned about Real Madrid superstar and older brother of Sunderland midfield dynamo Jobe, Jude Bellingham, and whether he chats to his Black Cats teammate about his success.
Per Spanish outlet, Eldesmarque, Mayenda said: “Jobe is a great player. We don’t talk much about Jude, but I have a very good relationship with Jobe. He’s very talented, a hard worker, and if he continues like this, he’ll be able to play anywhere.”
It’s not the first time that both Jude and Jobe have been mentioned in Spain, as Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti once complimented Sunderland’s Bellingham.

Jobe Bellingham has the potential to quash Jude comparisons and make a name for himself
When looking at Sunderland’s top performers this season, and the key men who have been reliable throughout the 2024/25 Championship campaign, many heads will turn to Jobe, and it is no surprise why.
The Sunderland midfielder has only missed a handful of games. Still, when unavailable, the Black Cats haven’t notched a single win, only further expressing his importance to Regis Le Bris’ side.
Premier League sides have shown interest in Bellingham this season, and it is no surprise to see why. Considering he is still just 19 years old, he has every opportunity to forge a fantastic career, one that could even eclipse the path of his brothers’.
