Comparing Jobe Bellingham’s 2024/25 campaign to Jude’s breakout Championship season suggests one revealing positive for the Sunderland ace.

Sunderland’s 2024/25 Championship campaign so far has been a resounding success for several reasons.

Past the halfway point, Sunderland have maintained their level and are still very much in the hunt for promotion against three sides that have the benefit of parachute payments to aid their push for the Premier League.

One of the stars of the show for Regis Le Bris’ side has been Jobe Bellingham, who has been impeccable in-the centre-of-the-park for the Black Cats, showing shades of his brother Jude, now star man for England and Real Madrid.

Whilst many often say that Jobe may be in his brother’s shadow, the stats suggest that the Sunderland midfielder may potentially overtake Jude and his achievements.

Comparing Jobe Bellingham to Jude breakout Championship season uncovers Sunderland ace’s potential

When Jude Bellingham underwent his breakthrough season with Birmingham City, before a blockbuster move to Borussia Dortmund, he showed the potential of a top English youngster that was destined for big things, and there is no doubt that he achieved that.

However, not many would be expecting his brother to surpass him in his career, and that could very much happen with Jobe based on his season so far for Sunderland.

When comparing the two players’ Championship seasons, per SofaScore, the pair both scored four goals, but Jobe has managed the feat in 18 less games, whilst the Black Cats ace has also notched an extra assist.

Jobe has also proven more ability on the defensive side in comparison to his brother Jude from his 2019/20 season, averaging significantly more clearances and tackles per game, whilst being dribbled past 0.4 less times.

Regis Le Bris has fully unleashed the true potential of Jobe Bellingham this season

Since Le Bris joined the club in the summer, Bellingham’s development at the club has been impeccable, going from a top Championship youngster, to a commanding central-midfielder that wouldn’t look out of place in the Premier League.

It is now imperative that Sunderland look to keep hold of the youngster who has been completely transformed by the French boss as he is crucial in the ongoing promotion push.

There is no doubt that Sunderland have several top prospects at the club, but let alone the Black Cats, there aren’t many bigger prospects in world football than Jobe, and Le Bris has done so well to help him towards that full potential.
