One Premier League star was quick to heap the praise on one of Sunderland’s top talents.

Sunderland have now managed six games without notching a win The weekend marked a first defeat in 10 for Regis Le Bris’ side, who lost out 1-0 against a resolute Sheffield United side.

The Black Cats now sit 4th in the Championship, and there are plenty of concerns arising for the side. One of which is the suspension of Chris Mepham after his red card vs Sheffield United. This has left Le Bris with the decision of who will make up the back-four next time against Stoke City.

There are also issues with the frontline, which has dried up in regards to goalscoring output ever since the injury dealt to Romaine Mundle.

On the plus side, Sunderland’s Tommy Watson really put on a show at Bramall Lane and showcased the raw abilities that will make him a top player for the Black Cats in the years to come.

Many delivered praise towards the winger after his showing, including one Premier League star.

One of the first people to rate the top showing by Watson at the weekend was Blades boss Chris Wilder. He has been followed up by others, who were quick to realise just how brilliant the 18-year-old was against Sheffield United.

He was also joined by Chris Rigg, who responded to Watson’s post on Instagram with the comment ‘Some player ❤️’. Southampton and England U21 starlet Tyler Dibling was also very complimentary of the attacker after leaving the comment ‘🔥🔥’.

It was a really necessarily good performance for Watson, who was somewhat put under the cosh after his showing against West Brom, which led to a negative reaction from the fans.

Regis Le Bris is the perfect man to get the very best out of Tommy Watson

Sunderland fans were able to get a glimpse into the true abilities of Watson, and there is no doubt that there will be plenty more to see from the 18-year-old.

It is now a crucial time for Watson to really kick on his career, and the fact that Le Bris is his coach adds that sense of security that he is in the best hands.

The proof is in the pudding that Le Bris can get the very best out of the younger ranks, as seen by the likes of Chris Rigg, and there is no doubt that Watson will follow suit.
