Sunderland fans fume at one man after Millwall draw, saying ‘he was to blame’

Sunderland fans are once again fuming after seeing their side drop points from a winning position.

Earlier in November, Sunderland threw away a two-goal lead against Coventry City, leaving Regis Le Bris’ side with three-straight draws going into the international break.

Now it’s four-straight draws for the Black Cats following a 1-1 draw against Millwall on Saturday. And it’s a familiar feeling for Sunderland fans.

Aaron Connolly scored his first goal for the club on 10 minutes but the Black Cats conceded yet another late equaliser, drawing the game 1-1.

Sunderland fans fume at Regis Le Bris after Millwall draw

The team performance was quite good, overall, especially given the Sunderland’s injuries and suspensions going into the game.

But fans are fuming at Le Bris once again, saying that the Frenchman didn’t make the right changes at the right time in the game.

One fan said: “We have to learn from this and digest where we went wrong, RLB said. Well once again he was to blame for not being proactive and making changes when it was clearly needed.”

Another added: “Got to seriously start questioning Regis’ tactics here, we’re starting well and getting ourselves ahead in games and then just playing negative football and sitting back for 60+ minutes and it needs to change.”

Similarly, this Sunderland fan posted on X: “Sitting back once again when we are in a good position. Why is Regis not learning his lesson?”

One fan added: “I massively rate Le Bris, but we do sit back in the lead by design. Personally think that one is on him,” whilst another said: “Sitting back after scoring will be the downfall of Le Bris.”

The theme among Sunderland fans after Millwall is clear, as one fan weighed in with: “Our tendency to sit back when winning is becoming worrying. Cost us twice. RLB needs to address that.”

Sunderland’s Millwall curse continues after draw at The Den

Going into the game at Millwall, Le Bris had the chance to set another Sunderland first this season.

Earlier in the campaign, Le Bris became the first Black Cats boss since Roy Keane to win games away at Derby County and Luton Town.

He could’ve also become the first Sunderland manager since Peter Reid to win at The Den, which was 29 years ago now. Le Bris perhaps should’ve been, too.

Fans clearly have a major concern about Le Bris and it’s something that’s cost his side four points in the last two games now.
