Sunderland players have sent their support to one Black Cats ace following the win against Norwich City.

The Black Cats managed a crucial win at the Stadium of Light, where they responded to a one-goal deficit at half-time to win 2-1.

Sunderland were helped along the way with a red card handed to Norwich City centre-back Jose Cordoba, however they certainly took full advantage as Jobe Bellingham scored the crucial goal to wrap up all three points in the final home game before Christmas.

Bellingham was joined by unlikely goalscorer Dan Ballard on the scoresheet in the massive home victory, with the centre-back bagging his second successive finish off the back of a lovely cross by Eliezer Mayenda.

Since his crucial goal, he has been sent messages by many key members of Regis Le Bris’ squad.

Sunderland stars send message to Dan Ballard after goal vs Norwich City

At the start of the season, not many would have expected Ballard to be such a goal threat for Sunderland, and with two goals in his previous two games, he has certainly played his past in ensuring that the Black Cats end the calendar year with a flourish.

The Sunderland goalscorer was not fully convinced with the sides’ performance, but could still see the positives around the fact that they were able to confirm all three points.

After his goal, he received messages from several players, who left comments under his recent Instagram post.

Sunderland winger Romaine Mundle and Leo Hjelde went along a similar trend with their message to the centre-back, referring to him as a ‘bagsman’ and ‘goalscorer’.

Chris Rigg also showed his thanks for the Stevenage-born defender as he said: “What a guy”, whilst Eliezer Mayenda left the message ‘Big B!’

Black Cats midfielder Bellingham also left a comment that was simply ‘😍’; a very apt reaction to such a crucial goal by Ballard.

Sunderland’s range of goalscorers prove to be one of their strengths, but is also a weakness

It is always brilliant to see an unlikely goalscorer pop up with the goods to help Sunderland towards all three points, as it shows that when the attackers are not quite on top form, they can still rely on other channels to provide the goals.

However, whilst Ballard’s goal was crucial, it does further highlight the lack of firepower in the attack at this current moment of time, particularly from Wilson Isidor leading the line for the Black Cats.

The French forward endured a decent start to life in Wearside, but has seemingly not been at the peak of his powers in recent weeks, including the recent win against Norwich City.

If Sunderland can get the perfect balance of their goalscorers being on top form, whilst also programming the players around them to provide a threat, they will certainly have all the capabilities of continuing their promotion push.
