One loaned out Sunderland star is currently making a name for himself in League Two.
Sunderland’s academy has certainly shown its strength in recent years, bringing through several top prospects into the side.
From the likes of Dan Neil and Anthony Patterson, to Chris Rigg and Tommy Watson more recently, there are no sides in the Championship that place so much importance in giving their youth ranks a clear path into the first team, and it has worked wonders for Regis Le Bris’ side.
The trend of the Black Cats bringing top prospects into the side certainly isn’t showing any signs of faltering, with Harrison Jones signing a new contract at the club, whilst 17-year-old ace Trey Ogunsuyi continues to shine at under-21 level.
There is also a current Sunderland star loaned out to League Two outfit Salford City, where he has established himself as a top player.

Sunderland loanee Matty Young earns fourth clean sheet in five amid brilliant season
The Black Cats have several brilliant goalkeepers at the club, with Matty Young being a fine example of a shot-stopper for his age.
The 18-year-old continues to perform in-between the sticks for League Two side Salford City, where he has notched three clean sheets in just four games.
Prior to his introduction into the side, Salford City had conceded nine goals in seven games, whilst his four game stint has seen him let just one goal in.
Per SofaScore, he has even been ranked as the second best goalkeeper in the division in reference to average rating.

The 2006-born star is just the latest example of a brilliant player coming through the ranks, and one that will likely cushion the blow of Anthony Patterson eventually earning a top move elsewhere, if Sunderland aren’t able to reach the Premier League in the near future.
Rigg also looks to be one of England’s top prospects, as seen by the host of clubs eyeing up his movement.
The fact that the current crop of young players Sunderland have at their disposal are being utilised will always work in the Black Cats’ favour, with their value increasing week-by-week, as well as the fact that the performances in the first-team continue to shine the spotlight on the academy and how successful it is.
