Sunderland recently oversaw the loan exit of attacker Nazariy Rusyn, with the £2.5million man joining Hajduk Split on loan. But he won’t be the only one leaving the club before deadline day.
Sunderland have actually had quite a subdued January transfer window, although there’s been plenty of rumours and reports to keep fans entertained.
So far, Enzo Le Fee has joined the Black Cats. He’s the sole signing of the window so far, and there’s also been two player departures with Nazariy Rusyn leaving on loan and Aaron Connolly joining Millwall on a permanent deal.
Whilst new signings look likely for Regis Le Bris’ side in what’s left of the January transfer window, there’s also set to be a player exit too.

Joe Anderson poised for Sunderland loan exit
Sunderland signed young defender Joe Anderson from Everton in January 2023. It looked like another classic Kristjaan Speakman signing; a young player eager to play first-team football, and bound to blossom into a star player.
But that’s not been the case. Anderson, 23, has played just four Championship games for Sunderland, with just five appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats.
Sunderland AFC News can reveal that Anderson is set to leave on loan before deadline day with League One duo Bristol Rovers and Exeter City both keen.

Joe Anderson previously put up for sale by Sunderland
Going into the January transfer window, there were a number of reports stating that players like Rusyn, Abdollah Ba, and even Adil Aouchiche were free to leave the club in the New Year.
And one report stated that Anderson was up for sale at Sunderland, though a loan exit may indicate the club’s intentions to give him some more time to develop, and potentially come good for the Black Cats.
That, or Speakman is putting Anderson in the shop window ahead of a potential summer sale. Either way, Anderson leaving to play football is best for all involved.
