Disaster news for Sunderland as transfer target’s agent reaches out to Everton, Aston Villa and others

Former Sunderland manager David Moyes is back in the dugout, and back in the Premier League. He’s returned to Everton after the Toffees sacked Sean Dyche earlier in January.

The list of former Sunderland managers is long and varied. David Moyes was vastly unpopular and unsuccessful; much the opposite of current Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris.

The Frenchman has overseen a stunning first half of the season and has the club challenging for promotion in the second half of the campaign, currently sitting in 4th place of the Championship table.

Last time out, Sunderland drew 2-2 with Plymouth Argyle, in a game that arguably highlighted the need for one or two more new signings before the transfer window shuts.

So far in January, Sunderland have signed Enzo Le Fee on loan from Roma. But Kristjaan Speakman has his sights set on several players, with a new striker signing seemingly the priority at the Stadium of Light right now.

Semih Kilicsoy latest as Sunderland eye ambitious transfer move

Semih Kilicsoy is a man in transfer headlines right now. The Besiktas man is wanted by a number of clubs right now, and Sunderland have been credited with an interest in the 19-year-old attacker.

In fact, Sunderland are rivalling Newcastle United for Kilicsoy. But interest in the Besiktas star doesn’t stop there: it’s also been revealed by Chronicle Live that Kilicsoy’s agent has been hard at work in finding the youngster a new club before the February 3rd deadline.

Moyes’ Everton, along with Arsenal and Aston Villa have been contacted by Kilicsoy’s representatives to see if they’d be interested in making a move. Besiktas want £16million for Kilicsoy, so for Sunderland it would have to be a loan-to-buy deal, similar to the Le Fee deal.

One striker target looks realistic for Sunderland right now

Given the valuation of Kilicsoy, Premier League interest and the fact that it seems the youngster prefers a Premier League move, it looks unlikely that he’ll be moving to Sunderland anytime soon.

There’s a handful of strikers linked with Sunderland at the moment; Emil Riis and Matija Frigan to name a couple, though links to both have gone somewhat cold in the last week or so.

Right now, it looks like a move to Ajax and former Middlesbrough man Chuba Akpom is Sunderland’s best bet. Even then, Sunderland are rivalling Leicester City and Marseille for the 29-year-old.

Speakman may end up signing another unknown from Europe in the final days of the window.
