Leicester City have entered the race to sign Amad Diallo from Manchester United.

The Foxes see Amad as a potential replacement for Harvey Barnes who looks increasingly likely to join Newcastle United this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Amad was sensational during his season-long loan spell with Sunderland last season, where he bagged 14 goals and three assists in the Championship.

The attacker was arguably the club’s best player as they reached the play-offs, with Luke O’Nien hailing him as ‘incredible’ as his loan stint came to an end.

The Ivorian has since returned to Old Trafford but has been heavily linked with a move back to the second tier, while Erik ten Hag is yet to make a decision on his future.

Reports have claimed the Black Cats were eager to bring Amad back to Wearside on another loan spell, however their pursuit looks a little tentative.

Leicester are the latest club to express interest in signing Amad, who has already been linked with the likes of Burnley and Sheffield United.

The 21-year-old is currently in the USA with Manchester United ahead of tomorrow’s pre-season meeting with Lyon, while his future is unlikely to be decided until Ten Hag is able to take a proper look at his performances over the next few weeks.

With Anthony Elanga also looking set to leave Manchester this summer, the Dutchman may look to keep Amad as a squad player if they don’t have enough depth in attacking positions.

Manchester United would be stupid to send him anywhere but Sunderland

Sunderland’s chances of bringing Amad Diallo back to the club look extremely low and it is hard to understand why.

Unless it is a choice made by the Black Cats not to pursue the youngster, then it doesn’t make any sense as to why Manchester United would send him to another Championship club.

Unless they decide to keep him and offer him a place on their bench or they would prefer to send him abroad where he will pick up European experience, surely the most logical destination for Amad is where he performed so brilliantly last season.
