Sunderland moved on a number of players during the 2024 summer transfer window, some of which have fared better than others.
The most high-profile exit at the Stadium of Light during the 2024 summer transfer window was, of course, Jack Clarke joining Ipswich Town following their promotion to the Premier League.
The former Sunderland winger hasn’t quite managed to replicate his top form since leaving the North East in August.
Clarke has so far made seven Premier League appearances for the Tractor Boys, scoring zero and providing one assist.
Ipswich fans were critical of Clarke last month but the 23-year-old still has plenty of time to prove he is worthy of playing in the top flight.
Another notable exit from the North East earlier this year was Bradley Dack, who has now joined League Two side Gillingham on a free transfer.

Why Bradley Dack left Sunderland for Gillingham
Dack joined Sunderland on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The 30-year-old quickly cemented himself as a transfer flop, however, scoring just one and assisting one in 16 Championship appearances across the campaign.
In an interview in September, as per the Sunderland Echo, Dack opened up on his time at Sunderland and explained he left in order to play as many games as possible.
He said: “I went to Sunderland and started the season pretty well, but he then got sacked and stuff didn’t quite work out of me. I picked up a hamstring injury around Christmas, which was really difficult to rehab from.
“But now it’s about playing as many games as I can and enjoying it. That’s my goal now for however long my career is going to last. That’s my main aim.”

Sunderland flop Bradley Dack now struggling at Gillingham
Dack missed a total of 26 games for Sunderland due to injury in the 2023/24 season.
And after leaving the club over the summer, the attacking midfielder will have hoped things would be different at Gillingham.
However, it is fair to say things have not gone to plan for Dack, who has so far played just 14 minutes of League Two football and 45 minutes in the EFL Trophy.
Yet again, Dack is being plagued with injury woes at his new club. Gillingham boss Mark Bonner confirmed last month that the ex-Black Cat would be out for around four weeks after yet another injury issue, as per the Lancashire Telegraph.
He said: “It is probably going to be four weeks before we can get him back out. Every time we have tried, something has not quite worked and it is just going to take time.”
It is an unfortunate situation for Dack to be in, with these persistent problems having the potential to end his career sooner than he may have liked.
